What's the longest time you've gone without washing your dreads?

I mean washing in the sense that you soak lather rinse.

I wash mine every week or two, but I hate having heavy wet dreads. So to prolong the dry-spell I just started scrubbing the loosies with a wet flannel and drying them with a towel- looks a bit frizzy but looks like new. However they start to get greasyish again after a few days. But I think I had one week where it worked all week (after not washing dreads for a week or two before that)

If you've gone more than 2 weeks, do your loosies get greasy? How do you control it?

A lot less regularly now than I use to.
I use to do a deep clean every two weeks or so, then I didn't for a few months, but used that bottle of DHHQ stuff that I bought at the start. Though only used that maybe every two weeks. I used that the other day actually but hadn't used anything in a good few weeks apart from just rinsing with water. Hadn't been a problem like that either, though my hair smelt like fire smoke from the night before so I used that again.

i wash, as in soak lather rinse wash, twice a week. i get a super sweaty smelly head cheesey scalp otherwise. and it just feels so good to have a clean scalp.

i hate mine when theyre wet.. cant have em down cause they soak my tee, cant have em up cause they weigh my head down..

No Smell Whatsoever, You Can Wash Dreads As Often As You Wish, As Long As They

    Dry Completly Between Washes.

Very Similar To A Face Washer Or Towel, If It Never Totally Dries Out, After A Few Days

    It Will Start To Smell...:).

    Cheers Glen.

I can't vouch for dreads since I don't have them, but I do know that baby powder takes grease outta hair pretty well...and I can imagine it'd work well for dreads since you'd just have to rub a little in at the scalp.

And for those with greasy hair, there are a lot of awesome products out there that work as "dry shampoos." I use an all natural one I found on amazon

I Don't Wrap Them In A Towel, I Just Wrap My Head And Pat, Then Squeeze Each Dread,

Then Stand Under A Heating Vent Mainly To Dry The Undreaded Hair Under Them, Then I

Do Sideways Headbangs, Then Front To Rear Headbangs, And Finally Do The "Wet Doggie"

So They All Fall Into Their Correct Place...[IMG]

I wash about once a month nowadays, if that. Used to be once a week, found out it's just not needed for me.

I usually wash once a week.
I think three weeks has been the longest I've gone.
I could easily go a month, if I wanted to,
but I really love the smell of fresh washed dreads.

Longest I've probably gone is a little over a week that was years ago though. These days the longest I've probably gone is four/five days I guess. Mine don't take that long to dry really, despite how long they are. Yea I don't like the dripping much either, it's annoying, but it stops after not too long.

Glad to see so many heads on this site!!! I wash mine three times a week...mine are below my shoulders, almost to the middle of my back and I sue a microfiber towel to soak them dry...it works and helps tremendously!!
