Anybody here on the HF who loves EVE Online?

I've been playing for over a year now, and loved the game from the very first moments on. It's not for every type of personality, and most just flat out don't get what draws people in about EVE, but I was wondering if there was anybody else here who plays it. I can't be the only one.....

I've never heard of it before, but this one looks like it could be interesting. I'll be taking a closer look at it.

I have tried it a few times. It is a good game - but I think you have to have a "hankering" for that type of gameplay. I don't think I have it.

I like mmo's tho; and although I haven't played it in now like 6 months; Anarchy Online has been a favorite of mine that I have played since 2002.

I think of Eve as "the greatest game that I don't play". :)

yeah that's true. you certainly have to be a certain type of person to find EVE appealing.

try it, Phantom. CCP gives out 14-day trial accounts during which you can play for free and see if the game suits you. if you need any help or got any questions about the game, ask me.

it is true that this isn't a type of game where you can get a quick fix out of it anytime you log on. it does take time and considerable effort to get to where you want in EVE. I've been playing for a year and a half now, and during all this time i never once regretted it, or the time i've put into it, so i'd say it's worth it. I appreciate the complexity of the game, and the realism. I love it that the players are given a huge degree of freedom to do whatever they want in the game. of course it takes an independent mind to really get into that to begin with.

it is the ultimate sci-fi game. also, CCP (the developers of EVE Online) has some really innovative ideas for the future of EVE.

if you don't mind the time you might like to check this out:
    [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaT9Z2zxPu0&utm_source=newsletter60&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter60

it lasts for 2 hours, and it says a little about where the game is headed in the future. it's a fun video to watch anyhow.

and one other thing, it's not really about the game, the developers have this overall cool attitude about things going on in real world, and they sometimes tie that to the context of the game, like this:

    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/picture.php?albumid=8359&pictureid=67428

i think it's cool. they're not playing it safe and politically correct. they're having fun making this game. that's how anything great is made--people enjoying what they do.

anyway, i could spend a week talking about EVE Online, and all of the cool aspects of the game, there are many. you asked me if it's worth it, i say it's definitely worth a try, and you can see for yourself what it's like.

i have one album up here on the hipforums, where i have uploaded some of the screenshots from the game. if anybody's interested, check it out.

    Thanks Meridianwest for advice.

I played X3 for a long time but lamented on large holes in game [operational level] system. [single player]

    Eve sounds good to me.

    Thanks

    you're welcome.
    good luck with EVE.

and if you need help with gameplay or anything don't hesitate to ask. it will be quite a handful to take in at first. :)

A 2 hour video of a man talking about a video game can scare away many people. Me included.

well then don't play EVE. you don't have a sufficient attention span for it.

by the way, a new site went live just a while ago where EVE players all over share their experiences in game. Screenshots, videos, stories get posted there by the players. It's part of CCP's campaign to spread EVE.
