I have searched my heart and found myself to be a Rastaman and believe that Jah will lead me to salvation. My parents being both Jamacains, we never ate meat and from me born never cut my hair but as I've gotten older Ive decieded not to shave my beard also because Ive chosen that Rastafari path. My question is how do I make it in society finding a job in america with hair growing all the way down the nape of my neck and long dreds. I feel as I am forsaking my religion if I even shave just my neck. But almost no one wants to hire someone as rough looking as me no matta how i dress or how clean I am. Am I wrong for these thoughts for trying to at least be presentable to make an honest living.
Decide what's more important for you in the long run. If I was really devoted to rastafari beliefs I wouldn't even consider getting a job, as any other thought would be polluting my spirituality. But that's just me.
hair is just appearence.. somebody on a spiritual path should have other concerns than his hair! i am reading a lot of books about spirituality and believe me the exterior aspect of somebody is not important on a spiritual path.. why people give so much importance to apparence and we are not supposed to be attached to these things the principal is what is in the heart.. now if you want some job you must show up for the job!if you make some money you can buy things that will improve your life and it is not with an empty belly that you will be able to pray you must take care of yourself to be able to have a spiritual life and whatever can help you to take care of yourself is wisdom!in your case maybe you could create your own business..
