What's your idea of great ambient music? Form - timbre - instrumentation - sound processors and effects?

I do like allot of the music on HOS, and also like to listen to those who push the envelope in terms of form.

    Djedia - Mark.... :peace:

Hard to answer, I like different kinds of stuffs, but it might be just its power to take me into its 'world', that's how i see drone/ambiant.
Tell me ambiant/drone artists' names that you enjoy ?

Hm. I don't know about compression or harmony or any of that ... and I enjoy a tune as well as the next guy. I don't really know how my PC works either, but I laugh at funny stuff online, or exactly how my supper was cooked in a restaurant...but I eat and enjoy that, too.

As usual with everything, I think it's a balance of pleasant innovation and relaxing repetition.
Contrast and compliment. Just like a story line, it's nice when they take a trope, and turn it pleasantly on it's head.

But. there also seem to be some chords...or progressions that just ...I dunno
...do something. Make you feel a certain way. I could listen to those chords, in repetition, forever.

HOS is a little too sedate, as of late.
Sometimes, there's a fine line between good ambient and saccharine 'new age'.
