    Trubtar, 6 months, blimey!

If I wash mine in the evening, they won't be bone dry for at least 2 more days I reckon, so people saying they wash twice a week makes me cringe xD

I just moved to an arid desert climate. I stand outside after a shower and the atmosphere just draws the water out of my (not dreaded) hair. But back in Chicago, the humidity was such that even using a blowdryer indoors would take ages and my roots would be remoistened with sweat before the hair was dry.

So, I assume that the humidity of your local environment makes a big difference in drying time.

I bet it would help to have someone (friend/partner/roommate) around that would help you dry them, really squeeze those back ones.

I get my dreads wet pretty often- especially in the summer.
I actually WASH them much less then that- between once a month ,to once or twice a week. Depending on my mood, the weather, how my head feels and what I am washing with.

I washed mine a few days ago after 3 months without a wash.

Washed them because I was bored... Not because they needed it

Lol enjoy. The longest ive gone is a week. My old set however, I think the longest was like a month....eeeewww.

For those of you that wash more than twice a week, what do you do with your beads and wraps? Its such a pain in the ass to take them out then put them back in all the time so i havent really worn them much this summer.

when I had beads I'd leave them in.
Until one day when I was surfing I slammed my head into my board and the bead was between the 2. Worst pain.

Do you need to take the beads out though? I have a couple of bits and pieces in mine but have never bothered to take them out or anything and have't had any problems.

I never take my beads out- purely because I want the dread to move/grow/mutate around it so that it won't fall off. This hasn't happened yet, nearly lost one in a theatre ¬¬ But I don't see why you'd need to take them out (I can see why you'd think to take them out) because surely the bead or wrap acts as just another layer around the dread, just like a thick dread would, ugetme? The water will still drain out, there probably isn't much difference between the drying time of that of a wrap and a normal dread of the same size.

Some of mine are like this. I have the inner piece of a skateboard bearing on one at the back, though the end has naturally blunted itself around the bead so it's completely trapped in there. Another woven bead type thing has also had something similar happen.

Hmmm, well fair enough. I always thought the beads (wooden esp) would get gunky or wouldnt let the dread dry properly.

Probably 2 months, in the winter it's a PITA when you have dreads down to your ass to dry them but I do try more often tho !!! In the spring/summer/autumn, once a week

    About once a week.

Would like to go longer, as I hate damp dreads too. They take a good day/night to dry. But my scalp gets itchy if I don't wash at least once a week. They did start to smell damp when they were dry for a bit, but baking soda has sorted that out.

Question for the lucky folk whose dreads dry in hours: are your dreads super tight? I'm wondering if they are super tight, then the water might not get right into the middle of them, therefore they dry quickly..??

Mine dry in about 5-7 hours, depending on the humidity outside :/ mine are definitely locked up, but they're still pretty flexible and soft lookin.

I wrap mine up in a towel and take it down no later than two hours. I've never had a damp type problem much beyond that. I find it difficult to completely drench my dreads, it seems impossible. I also live in a very dry environment.
