Does anyone find this ad as disturbing as I do?

Exactly. I want to know why it's funny and acceptable for women to be portrayed as creepy stalkers but men doing the exact same thing it's considered "Scary"? I'm all for equality folks. It's almost like saying that women are incapable of violence. Ohhh if a man stalks a woman he is violent where as if a woman stalks a man it is funny. If a woman beats up a man it is "good for her" where as if a man even slaps a woman he is damned to hell forever. By the way I find neither of these positions right.

I would have to say that I would find the image of a male stalker more creepy, simply because men are more likely to rape or beat up a woman than the other way around.

I think you have a good point about the double standard though. I've heard of men calling the police to report domestic violence, and just getting laughed at. I've also heard that women tend to get much more lenient sentences for having committed the same violent crimes.

The media in the last twenty years has been saturated with images of women abusing, insulting, and bullying men. I don't think a whole lot of women have objected to that, but would have if the tables were turned. I think that some women are all for double standards, as long as double standards serve them.

By the way have you seen "Single White Female"? Now I'm really afraid of spike heals.

I think that more women should object to it. Between this ad and the Rose charachter on 2 and a Half Men (don't even get me started) women are not getting portrayed well. But nobody says anything. It's like let's laugh at the crazy lady, not stalking isn't funny. At least in a lot of the movies I've seen lately with the women abusing, insulting and bullying men it usually blows up on them in the end (see "The Hangover", "Very Bad Things", and "School of Rock"). To me these movies in their own way send a message that this behaviour is not acceptable.

I don't really watch hollywood movies anymore, so I can't comment on these films.

I have seen the Rose character on 2.5 men. I see it more as degradation of the mentally ill. There are other female characters that aren't portrayed that way.

I don't know too much about the show, so I can't say too much.

I don't think it's done with nearly enough frequency to be offensive in that sense.

I mean, it's not like they are implying that all females act that way; if anything, it should be offensive to women who stalk.

Leo doesn't make fun of stoners on That 70s Show; he makes fun of the stoners that are burnt out.

Women are definitely capable of violence...and I think domestic disputes in relationships are usually caused by women. I know I've knocked a few teeth outta my men when they are assholes :D haha

yeah, the OPs video, a commercial i have seen on TV a few times is a little odd. As others have mentioned in the thread, i cant really seem to think of their target market with this one...

Something that really pisses me off with adverts, are a lot of car adverts these days, kinda like the one posted by LovesLiquid on the first page of this thread, have almost NO information about the car at all. A lot of the time i see just some stupid shit going on, and for about 3-5 seconds at the end of the ad, there will be a title card of sorts saying how much money you have to put down, and how much your gonna be paying a month. I mean i suppose that they want to grab your attention but some car adverts just put me off considering the car completely..

Television advertisements constantly portray the most offensive and oppressive gender stereotypes. So do films. And TV. And everything all of the time. I would talk more about this but I just don't have the energy to deal with this stuff any more.
