I don't know if it's for me but I've been offered it and I'm damn tempted. The doc (who is renouned for knowing his meds) that lithium in combination with the venlafaxine im on is the gold standard for mood disorders and in particular type 2 (I've had multiple episodes which led to some very manic states).

While I'm far better than I once was, I have never been a stable person and am very tempted at the idea of having a normal mind. Different is boring in my opinion, I want to feel normal within myself..feel like day to day life is stable

I do too (want to feel normal). But I also want to get far the fuck away from where I am.

Theres a lot of things I like to get away from. Luckily I've done most of that this past year. Fuck I dunno about this lithium, I wake up fine in the morning but I end up sleeping anyway cause I can. But wake up with the most bizzare head sensations that are almost painful. Maybe its dehydration...but then I'm grinding my teeth to gel

Lithium can be taken as an adjunt or second line med and I think it's great. I take a small dose - 300 mgs - a day with mirtazapine - for depression, and it really helps. I used to feel at times like I would jump right out of my skin and I would want to howl. i would feel fear like I lost some important race and had failed really bad. I tried to kill myself. In the shrinko unit the doc put me on lose dose lithium and I don't feel the horrid tearing feelings of ripping in my head. It's awesome. Don't let em tell you otherwise. It doesn't deaden anything. Of course if your manic, you feel high from that right? So then what manic person wants that high to taper off or deaden out? Many manics are really creative and they create in their amplified state of mind. But that state isn't necessarily normal. I don't think I've ever heard a manic say they like lithium. But a depressed does.

I find lithium with a combo of my other meds work very well, the only side effects I get are shakes in my arms and hands.
Do I feel normal, better than I was, I will never feel normal because of a disability I was born with that added a chromosome and messes with my testosterone(basically non existent).

I have tried the testosterone injections and another time the gel, for me testosterone gives me a very uncomfortable feeling.
I was diagnosed way past puberty so adding it to my system is a very abnormal, just something I can not get used too.

you can gain a lot of weight on it, and you always have to have your blood levels checked.... also it can fuck with you mentally.

a lot of people i have heard say it makes a crazy man sane and a sane man crazy.
