my dog has noticed a stand of A. Donax growing pretty much around the corner. as this plant contains a large amount of gramine to a rather small amount of DMT, this is the thought he came up with:

gramine melts at 133 C and boils at 294 C (according to wolframalpha)
DMT melts at 46 C and boils somewhere between 80-160 C

so, it should be possible to put solid freebase extract of A. Donax in the bottom of a reflux still, melt the extract, and then keep turning up the heat until the remaining solid at the bottom of the column consists exclusively of gramine. the fluid collected at the end of the still won't be pure DMT, but at least it won't contain gramine.

thoughts? suggestions? points that need clarification? anything I overlooked?
