Are there any good covers of Hendrix songs that you know about? I ask because Michelle Shocked's House Burning Down and Friend 'n' Fellow's Purple Haze are both insanely awesome (both can be found on a cd called Blues Haze) and the Cure's cover of Purple Haze is pretty neat too
Stevie Ray Vaughan did a couple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEJh2FFUUoU&feature=related"]Voodoo Chile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAG-kX_IlUw"]Little Wing
^ I'd say he gives the guitar more power but loses some of the soul. I really like Voodoo Chile, even though his singing doesn't suit it well

Stinkfoot beat me to it, that Stevie version of voodoo child is fucking ridiculously good. Nobody has the soul Jimi had when it comes to Jimi's music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkjp4r8wINA&feature=related"]YouTube - ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER - Shawn Lane & Target

Of course there was Eric Clapton's version of Little Wing. In the 70s, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush was one of the best Hendrix cover bands ever... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL0IbQ2ltC0&feature=related"]YouTube - Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush LIVE - Purple Haze
I have yet to see any artist that gives a fraction of the soul that jimi gave. Even players that are TECHNICALLY more advanced just can't give what that legend made
Once I mentioned in another forum that while Satriani is a better technical player, he has nothing on the soul and connection with music that Jimi had. Another poster started an argument that anyway you look at it; being more in touch with the music, makes you better in every sense, because after all, it's about the music, most; not the skill.
