The Amazing Spiderman out 2012 http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_amazing_spider_man/ No Tobey Maguire, new guy, and pretty much the same set up story as Spidey 1. Seriously, WTF? A Superman redo also in 2012, with Russell Crowe as Jor-El????, I suppose cos he did such a great job with a Roman accent in Gladiator, hey why not try and top Brando Way too many bloomin comic book movies out nowadays. Next thing you know we will be getting re-dos before the tri-quel of the previous re-do comes out
Superman Returns was pretty good, I wish that wasn't getting a redo; Brandon Couth was perfect. Spider-man 3 was so terrible that both Tobey McGuire and Sam Raimi should've been taken out and shot.
Raimi said for ages he will never do another Evil Dead movie. And yet there is a re-do coming out in 2013. He's not directing, but is credited as the writer. Army of Darkness is one of my all time favourite movies, its a riot, and I think its probably the best thing Raimi ever did. So I look forward to a redo, although probably would have preferred an Evil Dead 4. Looking at the listing on IMDB, the redo has a budget of just $14 million, so errr, I dont know about that. so more like 1 than 3, what can you do with $14 million, a whole lot of some camera guy chasing a scared looking actor through the woods at night again
Or rather, too many movies based on average comic books coming out. There are so many absolutely excellent comic books (or graphic novels, if you will) but they always choose the mainstream ones to turn into movies, and usually do an average job, or occasionally they make a really great or really crappy movie. Why not branch out a bit more, there's so much quality stuff out there.
But they'd just fuck them up like they did Watchmen and the League of Extraordinary Gentleman. V for Vendetta was okay, but still nowhere near the awesomeness of the book. To give Hollywood a little credit; Kick-Ass was a better movie. Both Ex Machina and Y: The Last Man were optioned for movies and shopped around studios -- either one could've been great, but I wouldn't've liked to see them shat on by a terrible adaptation (like Watchmen) I always wonder why they don't do more epic story arcs of mainstream comics. Imagine Batman: No Man's Land or Civil War loosely adapted into a movie.
That's true. Y: The Last Man would make for a great movie, or possibly better as a short series, that book is fucking brilliant. I would like to see Transmetropolitan as well, but again it would probably fit better into a one-season show than a movie. I do agree with your assertions, even though I enjoyed Watchmen. Still, they couldn't do much worse than Spider man 3 or George clooney's Batman, for example. Although I suppose if they did make a shitty movie version of a comic I loved, I would get really pissed off. (Again, fuck george clooney.)
Sigh...does anyone feel as though Spiderman has been brutally ass raped? I do. 3 movies, a really butt fucking expensive play, now this. I'm just glad that Batman has managed to hold its salt. The newer ones are pretty well spaced and they are great each time. Mind you I'm not a BIG comic book/movie fan, I just happen to see some of them. I don't really plan on seeing that new one, I'm waiting for Captain Planet
It was terrible. Especially the non-senical theater version. Zack Snyder portrayed Nite-Owl way too impotent, even in flashbacks of his glory days, he just seemed pathetic. The Comedian was nearly likable and his violence was glorified by the direction of the scenes. Without the history, or any of the excerpts in any form, the story had none of the subtext that gives it it's depth. Whole plot points were taken out and some of the most important chapters were breezed through or not even in it (Watchmaker).

Terrible? Your points are valid, but I don't think that's quite fair.. Yes, the book was far, far better, but .. actually, I don't remember the movie well enough to really talk about it, but I did enjoy seeing the characters on screen, especially Rorschach, although I forget if his fate was the same as in the book. I've only seen the long DVD version. Have you seen the Tale of the Black Freighter?
Yeah, they have it intermixed in the Ultimate Cut of the film. It's alright. I don't like the beginning they throw on (though I understand why they did) and the animation is a little over the top for me; but there were also some really great parts to the animation (like the corpse-raft) The Motion Comic is the way to go, even though it's still missing the all important excerpts.
