pretty!!! you can pull it off good what was the pain like?? i never got a nose piercing, i think it would make my eyes water
Thanks creedlespeak! And Lynxx, it was by far the easiest I've ever had. The first one (I got when I was 18) made my eyes water and it bled a bit, but about a 4 on the pain scale. The second one was so fast and easy! I laughed right before he stuck me with the needle. Eyes never watered, no bleeding, piece of cake About a 2 on the pain scale.
That's fine if that's what you want to do but you are aware that your face would probably still look nice without it, right? I'm not saying it looks bad, I know plenty of people with piercings in their faces and stuff so I don't dislike them... I guess I'm just wondering why you did it. Why did you do it?
yep..I never understood the way people like to stick things in their faces like that but It doesnt really make anything worse unless it gets infected so I guess it looks alright
i had an eyebrow piercing for a long time. i just got it cuz it made me pretty, the same way i can wear a dress to feel pretty. it did look nice. but yea, something weird, as soon as i had gotten it, i wanted to have more piercings (like a labret, a navel piercing, etc). i never did get more in the end, but yea, i understand how it can somehow become "addictive".
You know the only thing that really makes you beautiful is to be a beautiful person. The way the comments on this thread read to me: When people are saying "that's pretty" they are talking about the object, saying the object is pretty. Pretty by possession. As I say, I don't dislike piercings but I am fucking miles away from understanding them. Who, honestly, who looks at their (often pretty anyway) face and says "Hmm, this would look so much better if I stab some metal through it in a manner which prevents healing"?Interesting that this has been in human culture for thousands and thousands of years! Tribesmen would stick bones through their noses etc, some still do. One tribe in the Amazonian (I think) rainforest still sticks massive disks into their bottom lips! Looks insane! Of course, nowadays people have taken it to extreme new levels, body piercing to the point of insanity. Popel piercing the backs of their necks, the skin between their finger and thumb, there lower back, genitals etc. How do you look at your genitals and see the need for a piercing?!?!!?!?!??!???
yea of course. but with the society we live in, appearance is important, and it takes confidence to think u dont need artificial stuff (make-up, nice clothes etc) to feel beautiful. im not saying its a good thing. evidently a LOT of pple. a gazillion pple have piercings, im pretty sure they all consider that they look better with the piercings. PAs and such are more of a sex enhancer thing, imo.
That quesiton was rhetoric. It is the reason that they feel they look better with the piercings that interests me.
Lol, its a little addictive for me because of the adrenaline rush. Plus, piercings you can always take out later if you decide to.
Why do you presume people do it to look better? I have lots of piercings and other jewellery and it's about how it feels to me wearing it, not how it looks to others. Tongue fencing with someone who also has a pierced tongue is far more fun than either or both not having pierced tongues, IMHO. There's also the statement that this body and life is mine to do with as i choose. We can each be our own work of art if we chose. Some artist chose to stick within the boundaries and status quo while others chose to push those boundaries to the limits. I have my left nose pierced twice and right pierced once. I like it and really don't give a toss what anyone else thinks about it - and i think the piercings state that in themselves. :sunny:
I based my presumption on the fact that I had been told that someone pierced themselves to look pretty and that this thread seems to be searching for confirmation that it looks good, at least the respondents are making me think that this is the nature of the thread. I could be wrong. Yep, I can appreciate that, it's fine for you to do what you want, don't let me or my opinions get in the way of that. Though to me, adorning yourself, especially in extreme ways, says that you do give a toss what people think of you; in this case you want people to know that you seemingly don't give a toss what they think of you, as the piercings state. You're making a statement. Still, this helps me get no further in my understanding of this activity. Why do you feel better wearing it? Perhaps you long to be different to the average member of society and you feel that this outward expression tells people (and affirms it to yourself) that you are different to the average person? I don't know, it's just a little strange to me. There is no practical result of piercing, no advantage you gain, at least none that I can see. You stick some metal in your body and people that do the same applaud you for it. And that's it. Please, nobody take these suppositions personally, I am only endeavouring to understand this practice, not degrade it.
You're over thinking it mll. I did it (and other ppl too) bc I (we) like it. Whatever the underlying reason is, the fact is, I like it. This thread was not meant for your approval, it was meant for me to show off my new piercing. Yes, it makes me feel pretty, but then again, what girl doesnt like things that sparkle? Beit a piercing, or other jewelry, alot of women like shiny things. As far as you understanding it, I dont know that that will happen seeings as how myself and other people have already tried to help you understand.
There is a statement made, as i have said, but that's not the point of why i wear the jewellery i wear, it's just an unintended side effect of it. I absolutely do not wear jewellery for any one else's opinions, i wear it because i like how it feels to me, and that's it. As to the act of piercing i like the feeling of that as well, both physical and mental. It's quite a buzz mentally having a piercing done - especially if you do it yourself - and the sensations of a razor sharp needle going through a part of you is incredibly interesting. It gives you a whole new idea on what pain means and your relationship with your body. But really, i don't care what others think, i just do it for my own pleasure, my own challenge, and nothing more.
2barefeet, you got it. Call it my sadistic nature or whatever, but the entire act of getting a piercing, the pain, the mental hype, and the end result is all a turnon for me.
