So from tomorrow up til the 13th, I'll be in California with my family, for my cousin's wedding and going off having a fun vacation. I've heard from my uncle that the average temp there right now is around the mid to high 90s (at least, in Bakersfield) and I'm not too experienced on hot surfaces. I mean, it's been a few weeks since Minnesota has been notably hot, and no temps over 100 degrees yet this year, (except in the car. but that doesn't count). ANyway long story short, is California barefootable? (I realize this could be up to opinions, but what the heck. Give any opinions you may have then.)
Well, Im in Pennsylvania, which is close to California (OK...SAME COUNTRY DAMMIT)...but I'll venture that any environment that has been baking in the mid 90s is barefootable ONLY in the shade. I mean, hot is hot. There are indeed veteran BFers who "do" hot pavement quite well, and there are newbies who shouldn't. Do you know where YOUR status is????
I wouldnt rest my feet on hot ground, but walking over it isnt to bad once you get used to it.. best to carry a towel or tshirt to toss on the ground if their is no shade and you have no shoes at all..
Definately a hot termac and pavement man,I have alredy barefoot in places where u can fry an egg in the sand, and where the tarmac has become fluid due to heat,no problemM-I grew up barefoot, and my feet are cultured to these conditions
Well, I'm here now, and it isn't as hot as I thought, especially since I'm around the coastal areas. I went to Huntington beach yesterday and even in main street at the shopping and dining areas, you see people barefoot a lot. Around 1 in every 4 people! Must just come with the territory though. Beach community and all. It was surprising enough to find that it got colder here than in Minnesota during the early and late hours, lol. I'll be more careful though when I head inland.
:sunny:I live in N.Cali close to the ocean, Barefoot is the norm here for many. I tried living in Las Vegas for a couple years, extended winter is the best way I compare/ rate it.....just the opposite of snow country.
So, I'm back home from my trip, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. (Except Bakersfield. I stayed home at my uncle's house most of the time I was there) L.A., San Diego, and Cerritos were slightly cooler than Minnesota this time of year too, which surprised me. In a good way. Sea world was amazing, Had fun at Knotts Berry Farms (although they required footwear in the majority of the rides, even that big plunge one that gets you soaking wet, or even just walking around the park, although I was able to take off my flip flops on certain rides.) And since the wedding I attended was sort of tropical style, in a non-formal location, Nobody minded bare feet. Overall a fun trip, and I want to go back to California again.
