I don't find 5-HT2A agonists to replicate schizophrenia, which I HAVE (Schizoaffective Disorder) very accurately. Taking too much amphetamine is a better approximation of schizophrenia IMO.
I didn't click them. If they are dangerous, the thread needs to be closed. I just know that people used to say LSD mimicked Schizo, then it was Amphetamine, now it is actually PCP that is considered almost identical to Schizo. Symptoms. I can't tell you how PCP compares as I have never taken it. However, like I said, LSD-like psychedelics don't feel like Schizo., but high doses of amphetamine DO feel disturbingly similar to it IMO. I spent a good two months bingeing on Adderall and not medicated for my Schizoaffective last year. It was very scary looking back. Pretty much a double whammy.
What is PEACEFUL LIBRA's computer or browser just sucks, does he get banned? I really don't think they're dangerous, my Norton is pretty good (even detected this site as unsafe when it had infections) and it didn't get anything. These pictures are really interesting; I might look more into him, thanks.
ya, the links are fine. and interesting too, VERY psychedelic drawings considering the time. They must have been really out there considering society and art of the day. But, I don't think the OP's title is accurate. Just because the artist had mental issues doesn't mean psychedelia is schizophrenic. The idea that LSD replicated schizophrenia was common in early studies in the 50's but was dispelled once some of the researchers had dosed themselves.
Cubism.. Dadaism.. and Surrealism.. were formed and popularized during this man's lifetime. If anything, our modern art is tame and simple as hell in comparison to the early 1900s.
Theres prolly different types of schizophrenia, some which replicate LSD and others amphetamine others PCP and everything in between? (and others) But like it's really compelling, seems a LOT like an acid cat.
^ yeah same here thats why its so cool... its like what i would draw if i was a good drawer and trippin
Interesting Duck... I'm not very educated about art, I don't think I've had much exposure to the history behind various styles and techniques. Thanks for those. :2thumbsup:
I got diagnosed with a schizoaffective break, I agree with you, my symptoms were very similar to psychedelics in thought process. I tended to try to make associations with like inanimate objects and myself as if they were speaking to me. I didn't get visual hallucinations really but the erroneous associations between objects I make is very much similar to what I find in LSD and some other psychedelics and it's without that comfort of "Oh I'm tripping" so it can be pretty disturbing sometimes.
Agreed bro, i havnt been diagnosed with schizophrenia but im pretty sure i have it, im just too afraid to tell any doctor. But back on subject, i understand what you mean with the thought process and associations with objects. But i belive that like psychedelics, schizophrenia is a gateway into deeper thoughts and a gateway into another world of information that cannot be concived by a "normal" mind... but hell, maybe our minds are supposed to be "schizophrenic" and most have just grown out of it and unknowingly feel into a state of ignorence.
i also found this page too that i found very helpful, some may fear of being schizo because of feeling detached from reality, it is actually http://psychcentral.com/ask-the-therapist/2011/03/27/fearing-that-i-am-schizophrenic/ some may also get that confused with panic attacks, which i get alot.
Feel free to PM me with any questions about what it is like to have Schizophrenia, considering I have Schizoaffective Disorder which is Schizophrenia combined with Bipolar Disorder (a mood disturbance).
Awesome links, thanks for sharing! I really like his later, more abstract paintings..they look amazing!
