Juuuuuust kidding. I actually just wanted to post a pic of my progress. This is two months of neglect: Pretty good picture, considering my nine-year-old took it. This is my third set of dreads. My first, I got a dread perm (wouldn't recommend it, at least for folks with a similar hair texture as mine. My hair is very soft, frizzy, and weirdly kinky in spots, and the perm totally damaged my whole set up up there. Blame it on the folly of youth, that was fifteen years ago). My second set was a couple of years ago, done by backcombing, but they were incredibly fat and I didn't really care for the way they felt. Shaved my head for crazy spine surgery because I was afraid my fatties would eat the drain in my incision. Grew my hair back and decided to go neglect. I'm so happy I'm doing this set by just leaving it the hell alone. I'm learning a lot about patience and vanity. And no, I'm not actually using any product at all. Well, I mean, except for shampoo.
More wax, make sure you wax them a lot while they're soaking wet through. Make sure the wax is cold so it's more lumpy in there
I've been doing a fair bit of ripping apart, but there are definitely a few in there that are shaping up to be fatties no matter what.
I was thinking of switching to straight up beeswax, to be honest. Or peanut butter. I heard peanut butter is good. This girl told me that, and she's been to Burning Man like, four times, so she would know. I had to edit and add that winking smiley face, because when I reread, it sounded waaaay too earnest.
Lol, I love this! Your dreads are lookon pretty awesome too! I'm honestly surprised to see that much progress!
I'm pretty surprised, myself. I think it's a perfect storm of a few things: 1, my hair was in really good condition. Hadn't been dyed/permed/highlighted/blow dried/otherwise heat styled since it started growing back from my head shaving escapade. 2, I have very wooly, curly hair that is prone to knotting to begin with. 3, I put an old wool sweater over my pillow and occasionally rub my hair with it when I'm feeling in the mood.
