So salvia divinorum can also be chewed as a rolled up "cigar" of leaves, and absorbed through the gums, though it doesn't work if you ingest it! I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it and what they think of it. I'm quite interested, and would like to try this method.
I have tried the Quid before. Though it was in a dreamstate, it was an interesting experience. I do wish to try it in my physicle body and normal state of awarness...I an`I should buy some clippings
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/e...rch=&A1=-1&Lang=&Group=-1&Str=&Intensity=&I2= i was interested in a quid a while back and tried a few times with the chewing gum/salvia extract method but never really did enough to feel much, though the mild effects were very interesting. i don't want to smoke salvia because it just sounds painful (in a bad way) and i might do a quid at some point, but i'm still hesitant because of the power.
Well as the late Terence Mckenna said "If your not scared at some point, you haven't done enough". This has been true with all my powerful psychedelic adventures, if i wasent scared i was probably just playing around, if i was scared i was remembering. :hat:
The quid or some derivative method of the quid is the only way I've taken Salvia so far. I enjoy it, though I haven't gotten past the "Light" level of Salvia experience. It could be that I've got a hard head, or crap product.
yep i completely agree. but i don't know how much there is to get from salvia really. i'd rather megadose on acid/mush/dmt/mescaline dissociatives are creepy to me.
If you are doing the tradition Quid, how many leaves are you useing? What are the derivative methods you speak of and are you growing your own, aquiering elswhere or buying online?
Dried leaves purchased online. I don't measure by the leaf, but by the gram. I've tried between 4 and 8 grams. 8 grams is pretty much the biggest wad I can get in my cheek, and that's uncomfortable. Derivative methods I've tried include making an alcohol extract and using the results of that in my mouth like a quid, and making a strong tea, and swishing the liquid around in my mouth for a while.
traditionally you'd use two quids... after you spit the first one out, immediately put the other one in your mouth.
I've done it that way as well. I would go for walks in the woods with 4g in my mouth, and the other 4g in my pocket. After 20 minutes or so I'd spit and refill. 4g is still a decent amount to have in the cheek. Just curious, most of what I've read said to NOT spit until about 20 minutes or so, but usually by 10 minutes my saliva build-up has my cheeks ballooning like Dizzy Gillespie. Any one here just spit slowly as it gets uncomfortable. That's one reason I wish I could get extracts that would work with quids.
have you heard of the chewing gum method? get .2-.3grams of 5x or 10x (the higher the extract obviously the stronger the experience), a peice of chewing gum (not bubble, from what i've heard, but i can't see how it would matter that much...), and about a half oz. worth of hard liquor (vodka, whiskey, anything 40% or more). chew the gum until it's soft, take it out and stretch it so it's really thin... put the salvia extract right on the gum and roll the gum up/fold it over so that the extract is contained inside. take the 1/2 ounce of alcohol into your mouth and pop the wad of gum back in, and chew (while not spitting) for 15 minutes or so. i've heard that sublingual use of extracts also works, but dried extracts probably get pretty messy when they're just stuffed under your tongue. or you could get salvia tinctures, which is a lot simpler... take reccomended amount under your tongue and wait.
I haven't heard of that chewing gum method but I think I'm going to try it! Thanks! I've tried "quiding" with the 5x or 10x stuff, but nothing seemed to really happen. I think the issue is that the extracts are essentially alcohol pulls, and the result isn't highly soluable in water/saliva. I've thought about making a strong tea and evaporating. Maybe the dried result of that would work in the mouth as well. I actually tried smoking a bit last night for the first time, I only have this little one-hitter pipe which was kind of messy, and while I got something out of the sally, smoking in general is just kind of gross.
ah, yeah. i think oral use of salvia is the best way to go- honestly, smoking sounds too painful. i just picked up some liquid extract that's meant to be taken sublingually. i'm going to give it a shot tonight.
Wait, with that gum method, what purpose does the alcohol serve? I actually don't like the taste of alcohol, so if I can avoid it, I'd rather do so. If it's just to aid the absorption of the chemical, won't using mouthwash prior to chewing the gum suffice?
I have tried the quid method. It was a lot longer, about 30-40 mins, but it was much more mellow. I had music playing and it felt as if my room had become underwater, and I watching little images float by all through my room. The clearest thing I remember was a little scuba diving man in one of those old school scuba suits with the fishbowl tops was holding on to the corner of one of my posters as the current was pushing him back. I feel like it is much more enjoyable experience but the downside is that you have to find the right leaves, and then you have to chew those leaves for like 20 mins, and the leaves are the most awful bitter tasting things you can find.
