Hi all. Long time lurker making his first post here. In my time spent reading through these forums, particularly the Barefoot section, I have come to like the wide variety of posts that people have made as well as the fact that people here seem to pretty nice and open minded so I said, what the heck, I'll make my first post.

I'm currently in college and last quarter for my journalism class, one of our assignments was to write a feature article about any topic of our choosing. Having started barefooting earlier this March, I decided to write my article on that.

My article focuses a lot on studies and research that has been done in the matter of going barefoot and it argues in favor of going barefoot from what you could call a "scientific" approach. Think of it as a compilation of the many sources of information that I found while I was conducting my research all put together into this article. I also included several sections that aren't so scientific where I argue for barefooting from a social and cultural perspective while throwing in some of my own opinions.

Several of my non-barefooter friends whom I showed the article to really liked it and I think it better helped them understand why I decided to go barefoot in the first place. Unfortunately my parents still don't seem to agree with me and dislike this new lifestyle of mine but to each his own.

Anyways, I was wondering if you guys could take a look at it and tell me what you think it. The assignment for this article was originally supposed to be around 2000-2500 words but I found that to be rather constrictive for all of the information I found so it ended up being around 4000 words. I put it up on this site called squidoo since it allowed me to include pictures as well which I think help to enhance my arguments.

    Here it is: http://www.squidoo.com/barefoot-is-best

Again, just let me know what you all think of it.

    Cheers.

That's really good. However do you give picture credits and list sources anywhere? I recognize most of those pics from other blogs and articles I've been reading myself the past couple of weeks.

    Thanks for the comments.

About giving credit for the pictures, I did try writing them in as a caption but for whatever reason, none of the captions I wrote ever appeared. Not sure if it was a bug in the site or something so I just didn't bother with it. Nevertheless, it wasn't my intention to steal the pics and claim them as my own, I just found them to be a good complement to the article.

Maybe you could start a blog and put the article on there and credit sources and photos.

I'll probably do that one day. I just need to find the time to do so.

Wonderful article! I'm only half way through it, but plan on finishing the rest sometime tomorrow (time to sleep...)
I've been getting paranoid about developing planter fasctilitis, as my dog often makes me run [barefoot] on pavement. I always try to land on the ball of my foot, and not my heel though :)
Will share this, thank you ~
