So as I mentioned in my other thread last week, I left the city and headed down to southern Mass to enjoy some nature and beach. We had originally planned on leaving for the beach Saturday afternoon but that somehow ended up as a 3am trip early Sunday morning. The two others and I were all going to drop a tab but those were extremely mild so we walked around either way and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. After a good 2.5-3 miles of walking (at least the sand made it seem that long) we reach the end which ended up being more of a marsh like area. My friend mentions that he sees an animal so we instantly think he means a wild creature haha..turns out a was a old dog. At first we thought she had just roamed away from her owner a few minutes prior to us getting there...she then walked back into the pool of salt water, sometimes drinking it and continued to stay in for at least 20-30 minutes looking confused and partially scared. At that point we realized that she had been missing for a while and was extremely dehydrated and hungry. We finally got her to get out and fed her fresh water from a pair of goggles we found earlier. I've never seen a dog drink so fast in my life. We took off the harness that had been weighed down by the water and used a belt as a leash. We walked her all the way back and one of the workers mentioned that we had "found the dog". So apparently Maggie Mae had been missing since Wednesday and most likely would have died that day or the next if we hadn't found her. The owner got there within half an hour and offered to buy us dinner since she had no cash on her. Hours later we get to this really nice restaurant by the water, open up the envelope and found a $200 gift card..I've never felt so good about life. We saved a life and got treated to a lovely meal in return.
I saved her number just in case so I was thinking about checking in soon to see how the dog is doing, at least through text, unless that would be weird haha
