Why is it that in every single artist's interpretation that I have ever seen Adam and Ever have navels? I thought navels were created because of umbilical cords...
It does seem silly that Adam and Eve having no human parent would have navels. I think the best explanation is that the artists didn't realize the error or they were trying to make a philosophical point. It's like with one of Leonardo Da Vinci's painting. Some believe that God is in the foreground of what looks to be a brain; so in Leonardo's way, perhaps he was trying to say, in a very subtle way, that God is in the brain.
yeah i'm as atheist as they come orison... though we didn't exactly evolve from monkeys we share a common ancestor with them. either way adam and eve shouldn't have navels in the mythology of christianity
Why is it most representations they look anglo-saxan roughly 4000 years ago, Garden of Eden somewhere around Syria, they would have been short, brown and hairy
I suppose its because the models had navels, the artists didnt think it through and just painted what they saw. It's an interpretation anyway, i mean, the artists choose to represent pple in a certain way, carrying an apple and whatnot. they could have chosen to represent Adam and Eve wearing sombreros
