I didn't understand how much it would cost for a grow light. If I am gonna grow 2 plants in 5 gallon buckets, is a 400 watt light good? And can I make a home-made one? Keep in mind my budget is 80 bucks! It would be much appreciated if you help me... hell maybe I'll mail you a few grams of weed one day.
go climb up on an abandoned billboard and take down a 400W metal halide lamp. buy a bulb for HPS for $19.00, and you just saved $140.00
Did I ever say I expected a big plant and a lot of bud? Yeah I live in an area with a few billboards, but they are simple ones, I don't think they have lights. I don't have a car, but I could ride my bike down to a billboard in 15 mins. But 3 problems; 1: There probably won't be a lamp there, and what's the chance I'll get the right wattage anyway 2: I oughta wait for my ski mask to get delivered first 3: How would I bring it back to my place? And also, like I said, I have and am willing to spend 80 bucks for a light. Don't you know anywhere to get a cheap light or something?
80 bucks isnt going to get you much buddy the cheapest iv seen that will not burn your house down as far as hid's go is htgsupply.com their own made core and coil ballest do get alittle hot but can be placed out side grow spce hopefuly. they run for 170 if i remeber without shiping...heres a link for a 400 watt system(overkill for 2 plants but great for say 6-7) http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTGSupply-Ultimate-400w-HPS-&-MH-Grow-Light.asp After some thought, if you really only want to grow two plants I reccomdend two 3-5 gall bags with proper drainage so no root rot the above assumed you still wanted a 400 b/c in other post you said you bought 11 seeds... The following would work great for just two plants heres http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-HTGSupply-150-watt-High-Pressure-Sodium-Grow-Light.asp 69$ not including shiping but you would have to buy an hm bulb aswell for veggative state, obiously this is not top of the line grow gear but 75 wat per plant will certinly grow good plants(some would argue overkill) this is all asuming your have proper ventalton and some nice nutes you could end up with two killer plants asuming good gentics There is another option which I have no experince with which would be T5 cfls they have less heat output are more effict however need to be placed close to plants; but from what I have seen either they are mostly used to supliment some light in a grow space allrdy using an H i.d(High intensidy discharge) which is the 150 watt I linked above or for use in mini stealth gardens with only few plant they still seem expensive for their lumen output to me but will save on electic bill is my understanding. I will tell you everything I know which is not much about these lights they come in two specturms for plant growth 6400k for veggitive growth and 3000k k for bloom need to be placed super close. hopefuly someone with alot more expeince using these lights can give you beter insight questions to ask are /price range/ lumens per plant would be the big questions. I'm happy with hids so have not used keep in mind you will need some ventaltion for the hid linked above even though their only 150 watt I honestly cant say how much for sure not alot for only 150 wats though. Once again dont forget oder I have done small 6 plant grow with plants around over a metter tall at harvest and they stank more then i thought 6 would. Keep in mind I was using a mini carbon filter and exchanging the air in the grow space every 5mins which is the ideal exchange rate when using most carbons..... allso there is a ton of info on the internet mabey even some info I posted asked before on this very site I hope I answered more questions then created best of luck with what your planing be smart/safe Best wishes *Randy*
