Hi there! This weekend I was gifted with an absolutely gorgeous, silky sarong. I did a google search and learned how to tie it as a skirt (the most comfortable skirt ever on earth) but I'm looking for some tips on other styles. I figured if anyone knew about sarongs, it would be the folk on these forums. So, lay it on me (and by extension anyone else who ever searches "sarong" in this forum), what are you favorite ways to wear a sarong?
Sometimes I lay a third of it over and then tie like you would a skirt and it makes a lovely layered shirt I hope that made sense. Or I twist it in the front of my chest and tie it around the back of my neck and use it as a short cover up (since it's easily opened in the front, lol)
That sounds awesome, I'm going to try it! Mine has fringe on the vertical ends, so I'll use it that way and have two layers of fringes.
Two ways to wear as skirts, wrap around a couple of times and tie (if you're thin enough), also take two top corners and feed them through a sarong buckle and pull. The buckle can also be used to make a dress. Other way is to take the sarong, long way horizontal around your back, hold top two corners, cross them over in front of you and take them around your neck and tie them at that back of your neck. This should overlap the two tassled ends down your front to make a nice dress. Search sarong shops on the internet you'll find lots of ways of tying them. I think sarongs are the most amazing piece of clothing ever invented. And there's so many beautiful fabrics and designs to chose from. When they start to wear out, they usually tear at the tassles but the rest of the fabric is still ok, you can make trousers out of them. :sunny:
Easy, Breezy Pareo Jacket/Shawl Grasp the sarong and place it over your shoulders back to front like a shawl. Your back will be covered, your front will be open. Take the top corner on the right side and tie it to the bottom corner on the right side. Repeat for the left side. (You may need to remove the pareo to manage this step) Place an arm through each opening that the knot has created and wear like a jacket.
