I'm 17 and I ran away from home.... but of course was caught. I didn't have any problems with hitchiking but I live in the country, make sure your decked out with protection before even thinking about it!

i'm an old man who still does long-distance hitchin' . just this
    year i got to thinking
i must be the most ancient one out here .

sure , i've seen young women sitting along
the road with a backpack . when i observe
how they get along , i see each has a special
    way .

what kind of hat would you wear ? or not a
hat ? no hat ! what do you mean no hat ?
how 'bout a purple Amish hat . eh ?

I've only hitchhiked on small islands in Canada, where the first car always stopped. It was a great way to get around and meet interesting people there, but I doubt itd be so easy elsewhere.

I've hitchhiked in Europe and seen a great piece of a world in that way. I've never tried it in USA, so I don't know how is it like in there. But here, in Europe it's really nice. I started to believe that there are good people on the world, who do good things unselfishly. And I've met a lot of interesting people as well:)
