I was sittin' here thinkin' why the hell do people not stand up and say no to property taxes. I mean it's our damn land we've or at least our ancestors fought and died for it for cryin' out loud. Since when should a government have the right to tax us for the land we live on! Without us there wouldn't even be a U.S. of A. The man and his minions seriously just need to get the fuck off our backs and let us live in peace....
You do realize there are property taxes for a reason, not to just take money from your pocket. If your going to live in an area then you should have to pay taxes to help with the upkeep of that area.
They charges us those taxes to pay for the local military forces so the injuns don't come back and take THEIR land back by force. What the fuck don't you understand about this?
im sure theyll stop taxes after every one starts building high quality roads, schools, hydro electric generators etc...for free
and dont forget about the foodstamps, welfare checks and social security checks...that money has to come from somewhere
just because we "have" to have them doesn't make it right. Thats like people who say we have to have war. Sure they can spout some crap about why it is neccesary but that still doesn't make war right. The simple fact is our government is fucked up and it's been fucked up almost since the beginning. They find ways to bind us into their lil mouse mazes, with the "cheese" waiting at the end and then they slowly bleed us dry man.
there are other ways to collect taxes. Property taxes ensure that no person will ever be truly free and self sufficient from the government. Sales and income tax should take care of the upkeep of an area. Property taxes make it impossible for a person to live completely self sufficiently. If a person decided to farm their land, grow their own food, kill their own animals, school their own children, provide their own healthcare, get rid of their automobiles and never use public roads, the simple fact of property taxes still keeps a person in bondage.
My parents bought their house in 1971 dirt cheap because it was in the middle of nowhere. They had the house paid for by the time suburban sprawl hit the area and housing prices shot up. They still live in the same house, except now its surrounded by upscale neighborhoods and shopping centers. They now live in one of the wealthiest parts of their town and have to pay out the ass for property tax. There should be some retroactive system set up for cases like that.
I actually just looked up exactly how much they pay in property taxes a year and it made me sick to my stomach. I'm surprised they haven't sold it already. But hell yeah, they'll probably make over twice what they paid for it when they sell.
thats it?..over here my parents house has doubled just in the last five years...right now its valued at least 5 or 6 times what they paid
ya..tell them to get reassesed and if their house is the crappy one in the neighborhood the taxes will get lowered for sure
Jesus thats crazy. I think maybe at best they could make 3 times what they paid for it. They live in one of the most stable housing markets in the country. The bubble hasn't expanded or popped yet. edit: i can't do math. so maybe 4 times what they paid lol. I'll have to suggest a reassessment.
Here's a novel idea: What if you want to continue to live in the same house, even tho' the "value" of it has gone up from back when...? You DO have to have money to buy another place AND pay the damn taxes...or if you rent, you can then contend with no privacy, landlords possibly raising rent, "rules" (no pets) etc...or you can even get evicted b/c the landlord wants his mother-in-law to come move in. (This happened to me years ago.) I totally agree with Mel. Property taxes which we pay on land that is ALREADY OWNED and that we continue to have to pay each year (on TOP of income taxes and sales tax) stop all of us from being able to be totally independent from the gov't. I just LOVE it how the gov't can TAKE land you own if you don't pay property tax on it, even tho' you had to pay taxes on it initially to get it. Being required to pay taxes on land every year that you live/own the land even sounds wrong! (It also makes me sick.) I'm just curious - is it this way in other countries? I don't want to get started on inheritance taxes.
They can only take shit when people let them.. Even here, they would rather work out a payment plan. than take your house. Say you had to pay $900.00 a yr in PT... and just payed 40 dollars a month, If you make an effort they dont take your shit. / btw math heads, thats only 1/2 the property tax and they still dont take your shit..
It's basically correct that you NEVER own your house or land. Don't pay taxes on them, even if completely paid off,and see who comes to take it from you. You can't escape the bastards.
Its a shame they send the poor retired sheriff to do it. I wouldnt open fire on a single old man, its really not fair..
