    Hi all,

im looking for a tea with relaxing\euphoric effects to it. i dont want any thing over powering, just something that i can drink to calm my nerves.

if you know about plants that you can just eat that is fine too.

    Very good teas for relaxation:

    St. John's Wort

    Melissa

the second one can be hard to find. I used to drink these religiously. I find them both quite delicious, and St. John's Wort has been shown to have equal effects to SSRIs in double blind placebo studies.

I was going to say I've been dosing with a nice big cup of St. John's Wort tea as of recent. I flavor it with honey and make the tea with fresh, mashed-up (masticated is official word, I think) leaves. I have a shrub of it...and it grows/spreads easily and fairly rapidly.
You may read where it says to use the "flowers"; but, it only blooms once a year - and over a 2/3 week period of time. I haven't had a lot of luck in harvesting these once/yearly not-big blooms, which take several weeks to complete blooming - much less in preserving them to have any effectiveness. I have found that using the masticated leaves works for me...I also let it brew/sit for at least 10 min (sometimes more), until the water turns brownish, at least, before straining and drinking. :sunny:

I believe this is exactly what you're looking for. I drink a cup every evening. The relaxing and euphoric properties of this plant are incredible.

Kava Kava is also a beneficial herb because it acts as an immediate mood-uplifter and has antidepressant effects that continue for several days.

Its also fun because you know its working when your mouth begins to numb!

Chamomile is tasty and relaxing. Valerian is good, you can buy it as an extract and put a couple drops in your favorite tea! Kava kava is good but you can't really make a good tea out of it, the effects are great but the taste isn't so good.
