You know what made the youth movement and hippies of the sixties powerful? We lived outside the boxes our parents and governments had built. We sought only one thing: the society of others. We developed ways of feeding and providing for others outside the usual formats. We adapted in a way they didn't forsee. Sure it was short lived. Individual greed and advancement took over, it always will. But for a short brief moment we had our moment of peace and love. I'll never regret growing up then. I never profitted monetarily or powerwise, but emotionally and morally I evolved.

I don't see evolution at work today. I see devolution and segration of society and mankind. In a way I am glad I am writing my epilogue and not working on my theme or prologue today. I'd be depressed and discouraged. I am depressed and discouraged, but I have my memories...what does today's youth have?

What the hell are you talking about? We were talking about technology and its moral based applications in this thread, at least I was trying to.

It turned into more of a loose human behaviour and opinion thread with some ethic rhetoric thrown in for good measure.. A lot of threads do that... Funny, eh?

    Negationism at its finest.
I'm not an old man that lives in a fantasy world trying to recreate the 1960s. I'm an educated man that has had my share of life experiences and was fighting the good fight before most of you were born. To this extent allow me to state that I listen and respect the values of much of today's youth. As I would anyone regardless of their age on condition they present themselves appropriately and with rationality.

I try to not engage in emotional based rhetoric or sterile debates that only promise to agree to disagree; As such diatribe and dichotomy serves nothing but the continuance of the status-quo.

What you want me to do is engage in debate so that you and many others can find some sort of "validation" in your perspectives. To this extent, I'm not willing to do this. All I will say on this subject is that we're a species on the brink of great global suffering or perhaps extinction or perhaps something more unimaginable.

I welcome you to do your own research. In the hopes to finish this conversation on a amicable manner. Allow me to present to you a couple of starting points.

    1) The book called Future Shock.

    2) This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdzepK-LVtU&feature=related"]The Age of Transitions (full length documentary) - YouTube

Although I'm not a fan of Youtube videos, it is a popular source of information today. I have taken the time to examine several videos and found one that I feel acceptably explains our current situation. Far from being a mainstream Hollywood created documentary, apart from a moment where a Alex Jones is used a source as information. The film maker has taken a certain degree of care in his research. There is also a site : http://www.theageoftransitions.com

With the above having been said; Allow me to say that I may be at times arrogant in my intelligence, prone to run on sentences, but that I'm however above all else not a hypocrite. I stated earlier in this conversation that I was going to get rid of my Internet access and I have done so. I have also turned my computer in work of expressionist art that decorates my kitchen wall. Therefore it will probably be unlikely that I will respond further to this conversation.

I wish all the best and hope that our future as a species is not as dark and grim as I see it being.

Take care and love to everyone

Yeah, there is Proust too to consider. mustlivelife is more about being a victim for what Proust was meaning in the difficulty of coldly remarking, disapproving society of the public expression.

I have a feeling that one day the technocrats of the world will have to admit that Ted Kazynski's manifesto against civilization and the technology that supports it had merit. What an unfortunate probability that the technocrat will have nobody left to share his greatest insight ever with.
