Why are most people on the internet idiots?

Most people you come across on the internet, on youtube comments, forum posts and in cereal packets are idiots. We've all seen it. What is it about the internet that turns most people into idiots and wankers? Is it something about the nature of posting anonymously that turns normal people into morons, or is it just that most people are morons anyway?

People don't have to worry about the consequences of what they say where their posting online so they reveal themselves more. The comments on youtube have been a revelation to me...just show's how much hate and anger there is out there and how easily people turn nasty at the drop of a hat. basically everyone's pissed off and mardy and abusing other people online is how they work it out.

I don't think there are significantly more idiots on the internet than anywhere else. I mean, 75% of the people I encounter on a daily basis appear to be idiots to some degree or another, including the one whose face I shave everyday.

 

I hope this was a massivley well thought-out and clever piece of humour rather than you actually not even realising what you were doing here.

 

I think stupid people talking and posting more is part of it. Most stupidity comes from a knee jerk reaction, while a well thought out statement takes time. For example when a terrorist attack happens the idiots take half a second to decide "we should just nuke the whole region! durp a durp durp", while thinking about what actually happened, why it happened, and what would be the best response takes a while, and often there is no clear answer. You see this effect in all media.

 

I dont think they are capable to decide anything- main stream mass corporate media is like a religion for them where they have to believe everything presented is true and reflects 100% reality. Those idiots are the most dangerous ones.

 

You have a point, it may be more accurate to say that when something happens, the idiots very quickly get their opinion on it fed to them.

 

The most dangerous idiots are the idiots who don't even realise they're idiots. Possibly most of hipforums and the rest of the internet.
