Hi all! Been lurking these forums since about the day I decided to let my hair dread up, about 2.5 years ago, and finally have a question that I'd like to hear outside opinions on :)

My brother is getting married and I'm going to be his best man. His fiance hates the idea of me having dreads in their wedding, but my brother doesn't seem to care (or at least doesn't mind enough to bring up cutting.)

What would y'all do? Cut for the wedding and start a new set (hell .. it's only hair right?) or just try and tie them back in some 'respectable' fashion for their big day?

I'm torn on the issue and would love to hear outside opinions

I'm with Pypes, Fuck cutting your hair, why should you cut your hair just for 1 Day ??? that's ludicrous, don't be a slave to society and keep them dreads danglin !!

My brother's girlfriend asked me when I was cutting my hair for their wedding.
    I said "You'll be lucky!"

Ya that was my first reaction as well, just wanted to get some reassurances from people other than myself. :)

She told me I'd need to cut them and I laughed . . my brother kind of backed me and said it wasn't really her place to ask me to do. She now seems resigned to the fact that I'll have them, but I can tell she's not happy about it at all.

Tough for her, my brother and his wife didn't care. I tidied them up and kept them back in a bun anyway. I wanted to do that though, rather than them saying anything about them.

i thought one of the main reasons for a wedding is to share it with family and friends. your brother asked you to be part of the wedding party. she needs to get over it, it's just hair and it's just one day.

If my brother's future wife said that to me I'd give her a slap :D Don't cut them for one day and especially don't cut them for anyone else. Tidy them up, but your brother is right, it isn't her place to tell you to get rid ^^

My Opinion Is Most Certainly DON'T CUT, The Wedding Vows Only Take A Few Minutes,

And As Long As It Is Neatly Held Back For The Wedding Photos There Should Be No Probs...[IMG].

Personally I Feel She Has Overstepped The Mark By Asking You To Remove Years

Of Development Just For Her Few Minutes In The Spotlight...[IMG].

Hope Everything Works Out For You, And Please Post Here Again After

The Wedding And Tell Us How Things Went, Because I'm Certain There

Are Lots Of Dreadies Who Will Find Themselves In The Same Position At Sometime In Their Dready Life...:).

    Cheers Glen.

That's ridiculous. Your brother asked you to be his best man and your dreads are part of who you are. Maybe she should just use cardboard cutouts for the members of the wedding party.

You should respect her, and not let the good folks see those nasty things.

Get a rainbow wig, to hide your hair from that bitch.

Maybe, she just has a dread fetish and doesn't want to be distracted while saying her vows.

    Maybe?
