Okay, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question or not. I've never had dreadlocks and I just recently started looking into them. Everyone talks about air-drying their dreads after you wash them but can't you just blow dry them or does that do something bad to your dreads? I'd love some answers :2thumbsup: thanks!
Blow dry if your in a cold wet damp climate with rain or they can get manky and smell! Air dry as much as possible its the way of nature and dreads after all are ment to be about being natural ... hope that helps :2thumbsup:
Blow drying should be fine. The only bad experience I've had is that I was using a very powerful hairdryer and it was actually pulling out small hairs from the dreads giving me a frizzy look which I didn't like much. I suggest that if you use a hairdryer set it to low speed or use a diffuser adapter like the ones used for curly hair. That way your hair should stay nice and tangly and dread friendly.
Air Dry Here For Two Years, But In Mid Winter Or When The Humidity Is Very High, I Stand Under A Central Heating Vent In The Ceiling, And That Gives Me A Gentle Warm Breeze And No Frizzies... Cheers Glen.
I never found hair dryers did anything for me other than annoy me, standing there waiting with nothing much happening, other than the hair dryer getting hot and stinking. Nothing beats the sun.
I'd just like to make a point: Yes, the blowdryer *may* pull out small hairs, but really? Not enough to notice I doubt. I have noticed my loosies looking "fuller" after washing. More fluffy. And this is after they've naturally dried. So.. to summarise... washing your scalp probaby pulls out more loosies than a hair dryer would. Plus the shampoo will make your loosies fluffier, making it look like there are more of them. Savvy?
