-without their consent. Wikileaks not happy. Interfere with plans for world revolution. Wikileaks take legal action against the Guardian.

The following is taken from a blog posted on wikileaks, but has since been removed.

    BBC article here-

Apparently they know what they are doing and are systematically releasing the cables to maintain interest and influence the people at the right time and place for maximum revolutionary impact. I don't know enough to comment, but they have a global poll up in facebook now asking should they release all US cables now? Currently stands at about 10 to 1 for.

Hmmm... I don't know, people seem to think they should just release these cables, but no releasing them isn't necessarily AFAIC see going to endanger anyone's lives (anymore than they may already be) whereas releasing them at specifically engineered times could produce different effects...

Anyway, they appear to be listening to public opinion and have removed the article that I quoted part of in this thread, not sure why..

Perhaps they want the timed release to avoid the "glazed-over" effect that massive amounts of troubling news generally tend to have on people?

Kind of hard to rally the masses when they're in a daze from a massive dose of negative information which may suddenly wipe away any last remaining strands of faith these people had in their leaders and the establishment. Sort of like waking up and learning the sky is in fact red, the world really was flat, God really exists and he hates us all and humanity would live for hundreds of years with little signs of aging were it not for the long running conspiracy to get us all to drink water.

Wikileaks is really going to take legal action over this?

Seems a little hypocritical to me.

Facebook poll currently stands at 13,530 for yes they should publish them all and 1,094 for no they shouldn't.

    That's >12:1 for.

Wikileaks is a sham; they probably released them themselves. ;)

It's looking that way at the moment, but it's probably the press trying to make them look foolish to compete with them for revol kudos.

I still support their cause, but I can imagine how difficult it might be to maintain a force for change in the world today.

Lot's of people wanting to distort what you are trying to say..

    I don't care.

I mean I care about it all, but right now I don't have much faith left in free speech, as it were.

What's to read? I already know all the politicians, beaurocrats and gangsta buddies and cool, I know how much death and suffering my government and your government is cause but we are both powerless to do anything about it.

Maybe Wikileaks are right in keeping schtoom of knowledge and releasing it at the right time?

Lest us not forget that the majority of people are stupid, after all.

I don't know. I just wants pure anarchy and then peace, otherwise I have lost all hope for the world and the universe.

We're not powerless. Government gets away with evil purely because of smoke and mirrors. That illusion is being stripped away, thanks in part to Wikileaks. Revolutions don't happen overnight. Revolutions come about as a result of years of discontent coupled with knowledge that those in power are responsible for it.

The tides are changing. I can feel it and I can see it everywhere. People are getting angry, even the most apathetic and stupid people.

This is why Wikileaks is invaluable. It may make you and I feel powerless to read these cables now, but filling our head with this knowledge serves to light a spark of anger. The more you learn, the higher the flames are fanned.

One person sitting around in their underwear reading classified diplomatic cables might be powerless to change things. A large group of people might be powerless to change things at first, but if enough people light that spark of anger the anger will eventually reach critical mass and turn into a movement.

As soon as I figure out how to work fucking bit torrents and find a site where I don't have to provide my name and pay $1.99 on my credit card to download the fucking cables (goddamnit), I plan to spend months going through these cables. I'm going to wallow in my anger, then wait. I really feel the tides are turning.

The rat bastards ratted out the informants, contacts, etc. They can blather on about how it happened, but the bottom line is it's all out there now and people will die. Secret police all over the world will be able to figure out bit torrents - no problemo.

I don't think all the cables have been added to this searchable database yet, but it sounds like they're working to get them all added sometime soon.
