I have been jogging lately and I have had a lot of trouble finding an agreeable breakfast.

Cereal is the worst, the milk causes a lot of discomfort and belching; so far fruit has caused too much acid; cinnamon raisin bagels didn't really get a fair shot cause I had a heavy dinner the night before.

    My sister has suggested bananas.

What's good to eat for breakfast before exercising?

1/3 cup of Honey, =92.18g of carbs.. bread and butter... Jog, Come home and repair your body with more fortified cereals, fruits and fluids..

thats too much honey.. too much sugar. sugar carbs are different from carbs in grains and so forth.

i like rice or oatmeal before a workout. its best to eat a balanced diet all the time. the potassium in bananas works in conjunction with sodium to operate muscles. i like bananas after a workout especially.

i mountain biked 85 miles today and ran 12 miles two days ago

Uhh jogging is so low intensity it really doesn't matter. If you were sprinting you would want to carb load, but not really with fruit and honey, they're roughly 50% fructose, 50% glucose. You want the glucose to be high if you're trying to replenish your glycogen. You only need to worry about that if you're jogging a looooooot or cycling in the Tour de France.

I stick to potatoes / rice around exercise. They'll give you some quick energy. Try a protein shake with whey and dried rice (think Rice Krispies but go generic) in water. Yum! Functional!

the best is beans. so if you like bean and cheese burritos that is the best for energy. you should always wait 1 hour after eating before exercising and make sure you chew your food good so it digests easy.

toast with butter is good too.

beans, eggs, and cheese burritos is my favorite breakfast starter.

and dang machinist 85 miles. haha most I have done is like 50 miles on a mountain bike and that is like 4 hours of non stop riding. and I can run 10 miles.

like other people are saying. potatoes, rice, bread, beans. anything with carbs. the reason milk caused discomfort for you is milk makes you build up excess lactic acid.

Rugor why should you always wait an hour after eating to exercise? I strongly disagree. Also I would suggest keeping heavy fat foods like cheese, eggs somewhat separated from workouts.

went to my pantry and did a little math. 94% of the carbs in honey come from sugar. i wouldn't know if i was having sugar problems either if i wasn't as active as i am. how many miles do you run a day? i already understand natural sugars in honey and fruit are different from processed sugars like refined white and corn syrup, but all that sugar ain't gonna do much for ya.

do you wanna throw up???? if you train as hard as I do and you do not wait 1 hour then the meal is gonna come back out.

and i have been eating breakfast burritos for a long time and 1 hour later I got so much energy. works for me.

oh yeah, beans are great. eat as much as you want of them but watch the salt and other stuff you can put on them. i buy the dry beans in a bag and cook them. they taste better and are cheaper than canned beans.

I usually do a half a banana and a half a piece of low-fat string cheese. Then I'll eat my real breakfast after my workout.

i didn't sign up for the army. i run in the evening anyway. you're an armchair expert. if you don't do anything, but think you can, then you're really not as smart as I thought you were.

Curdled milk, a sliced banana and apple, granola, and honey. :) Then, afterward, I drink a whey protein shake.

oatmeal with a little honey mixed in (why is everyone dissin on honey???) and a banana. bananas prevent cramping, which has always been my number one problem with jogging.

Most of the issues regarding health and sugar, is more to do with the refining process then anything else. Honey and fruit does not cause the same problems as refined sugar does.

For those who run x number of miles and do this many sets of that exercise and such... I would have no chance of testing my endurance in a run against you... Just as most of you would have no chance of testing mine working beside me on an average day here.

If you are just running to work your cardiovascular system, endurance and for general health, then eat a bit of something with lots of carbs that has some energy (oatmeal and honey, with some fruit).

If you are trying to reshape your body, then eat or drink something that has low carbs and high energy half an hour before you run and then carbs when you get back.
