when people saw in it something they could each mold some part of it with their own hands.

I like to think, I have to think, I've got to think that the future will be brighter, for not to will see us neglent the present and damage the basis for a better future of hope, that "Tomorrow is another day"

You guys realize that being alive now, this is our job and you're basically bitching about yourselves? I'm a researcher in robotics, I think the most important areas are energy production and transportation, but all of those fields, and other crucial ones, have been getting massive cuts to their funding because these days all the money is being reserved for war and tax cuts for wealthy people. Anyway, if you want the future to be awesome do something, some magical super scientist somewhere isn't going to do it, it's just us.

    you've got that exactly right.
it's not like we've all got to do some big thing though, but rather to keep in mind how each of our priorities statistically combines with everyone else's to create the incentives that create the conditions we will then experience, and to choose them accordingly, instead of on some rote basis of belief, or what we think others may expect or demand of us.
