lately i've been getting some really weird pains in my kneejoint. it manifests itself while bending the leg, usually when i'm walking, but not necessarily. it feels like nerve fibers occasionally getting stuck between bones or something. that's how it feels like. it's probably not what it is. it's a sharp cutting pain. only in the right knee. it doesn't matter whether i've walked a longer distance or only a few feet. weight load (e.g. carrying a backpack on the right shoulder) seemingly has no bearing on it. i get this thing whether carrying a weight or not. the intensity of the pain is enough to not being able to walk. sometimes it manifests itself for a while and then it goes away.

i have had no trauma to my knee by the way. i've done nothing out of the ordinary with it, except i do walk for a longer period of time every single day. i'm in excellent health otherwise, always have been throughout my life.

has anybody ever experienced anything similar? i've looked up all kinds of medical information on knee problems and come up with nothing that describes this situation.

Do you spend much time sitting on the floor?
Or do you sit in chairs, on couches, etc?

Yeah. I get bad pain sometimes from going up and down ladders ,sometimes carrying material. Such is the fate of a roofer(sometimes). I get the pains under the kneecap in ligaments and have to stay off the knee for a couple of days. What helps me is Glucosamine-Chondroitin-MSM. It really helps and one time I could barly walk so I loaded up on the aforementioned stuff and by next morning I was fine. Any health food store and/or drug stores should have it. Good luck.

    maybe see a doctor

I have knee pain right now, and I also walk and didn't have any obvious trauma

for me I think it's a muscular thing. massaging my leg helped a lot

do you have good walking shoes or hiking boots? bad footware could be the problem

you could also try getting acupuncture, though this is often expensive

just regular athletic shoes. or dress shoes. though i don't walk extended distances with the latter. i do have one pair of shoes that are a number too big for me. could that be a problem?

it doesn't hurt by itself. only during bending of the knee. it's not an ache. just pain.

I have my clients sit on the floor more than they use chairs, couches, etc.
It's based on osteopath Philip Beach's observations of contractile fields and the primal body postures.
The guy in your sig pic is in THE primal position.

AS we age (and my knees started crackling at 14) and stay in upright positions, we actually weaken the ligaments feeding into and out of the knee.

    Gotta flex it!

lyme disease is another posibility. if so, should be treated soon

in any case, see a doctor. the knee pain could be caused by a bunch of different things

among other things i eat meat, peas, tomatoes, bell peppers. less fruit, but i drink some of those not-juice-not-soda-either things that have all kinds of minerals and vitamins in it. though mostly just once or twice a month.

i don't drink any milk and i thought maybe it may be low Ca or sth, but why would it affect only one knee in that case. truth is that i started drinking a little bit of milk after this started and the next day this pain did not appear. then again it is kinda on-and-off even without the milk. so i don't know if it affected it in any way or not. besides Ca could improve it without Ca deficiency being the direct cause.

the thing with this is that i don't understand where it's coming from at all. i don't know if it's the muscle, bone or something else. probably not the bone since then i think i'd be in even worse pain and it wouldn't switch on and off like it does. it would be constant pain.

yeah. i should see a doc. but i am in europe currently and there are huge lines for doctors' appointments. i called an orthopedist's office and they told me, 'see you in november'. it's ridiculous. the only thing i can do is go to an emergency department if this thing gets really bad.

i got a friend with a torn acl. In fact ive managed to get my knee in trouble once, twisting it so badly I needed to call and ambulance from the middle the street in neighborhood Id been walking thru. sort of embarrassing. but it was like something just broke my knee and I couldnt walk at all.. Lucky it went away.

but about my friend. his was fixed with a straight brace from the sports store/ Or Drug store may carry these..
Its like an elastic bandage with bars on the side. The strap goes around top knee, and bottom./ Taking some pressure off it and keeping it straight. the metal support keeps some weight off, but not all. but more to keep it from bending fully..

These bending motions will take time to heal on its own. Need to keep it as straight as much as possible.

I would not get any shots of cortisone, cause it will help damage it in the long run. you are to young for shots..

most people only should have 2 or 3 cortisone shots in their life time. Starting the age of 40 and up.. unless closely supervised in sports medicine. < even then use caution..

Stick with the bracing. :D Good luck

thanks for the advice man. i think i'll see if it doesn't go away on its own in a week or so. if not then i'll go see a professional. the situation you were in in the middle of the street sounds a little like what i'm going through, though to a much lesser degree. i probably have unknowingly twisted it somehow and this much walking i do every day didn't do it any good either.

there are probably some medical websites that have some on line info and possibly some folks who would know

I wonder if there is some sort of sports medicine clinic that you could go to

doubt it. i have no skin symptoms. and there is no associated tenderness, swelling or anything in my knee. it feels like a regular knee except when i walk.

another thing that appears is slight stiffness in the knee if i keep it in a bent position for a while. that would be indicative of some tearing, either a muscle or some other tissue other than bone.

simplest explanations tend to be correct usually. it's a lot more likely that i unknowingly twisted it and aggravated the minor tear with moving around a lot on a daily basis.

Are your shoes too stiff, too padded/cushioned? Try going minimalist or barefoot.
