Freaky deaky psychedelic jungle experience with naked natives and undiscovered drugs that have an undiscovered potency...no thanks man.

    Fun to think about though.

To each his own. Look up Ayahuasca, the vine of the soul. Now there's a great way to get connected with the locals. You are blasted out of your own reality lying on the jungle floor some night too wrecked to move and the Shaman reachs out to you and takes you surfing across the Milky Way to meet the Gods of his reality. Puts a whole different slant on the American Dream.

Ain't nothin' like it at walmart.

Hah. If wal mart did sell it, it would probably be generic and it'd only take you to the moon. We already put a flag there, going there again is boring shit.

'Vine of the Soul' Interesting stuff.

I have always wanted to experience Ayahuasca. I've gone out there and met 'them' (us?) on DMT twice and it changed my outlook and my life dramatically - in a great way :) I've heard Ayahuasca trips are similar to smoking DMT but you drink it as a tea instead and it's combined with something else and spans out over several hours instead of it hitting you all at once and only lasting like 10 minutes.

I've used Ayahuasca in ceremony on occasions and found it to be very useful and enlightening. It's made from the Ayahuasca vine and an admixture of some other plant depending on the Shaman who makes it. It's about as vile tasting as anything can be and you know it's gonna come back up later. Regardless the experience is incredible and in fact I did have the sense of surfing the Milky Way toward the end of the effects. I've used it to explore different phases and passages of my life and will con tinue to use it when I feel the need. It is not a recreational drug by any means. Last summer my Peruvian born 17 year old and I did a ceremony together. His first and kind of a rite of passage for him. He and I were laying side by side on the Maloca floor and somewhere along the way he reached over and put his arm around me. It was a powerful bonding and we got to share it. Some of his other brothers were there and were encouraging for him too. They have a clean, sweet view of using the "medicine" to learn. I felt especially fortunate to share that with them, strengthens the bond between all of us as family. Being accepted into their world is a good as it gets for me.

Leave them alone? And deprive them of their equal rights to social programs, education and health care?
I disagree that they have never had contact with another human being, the photo obviously shows there are more than one, and they are no less human than you or I.
I agree that they should be left alone, especially by anthropologists and/or missionaries.

I think they should gently send one or two people in there and ask them what they want. Either that or This was a pretty good suggestion too

as an anthropologist I can see where this misconception stems from, but rest assured, we are striving not to make the mistakes of our past and in a way "rebelling" against governmental standards that we once were victim to in order to receive the funding; i.e. lake victoria tragedy. If anthropologists weren't present, another social/scientific entity would be that's a certainty.

new age anthropology is far less ethnocentric than before and finally taking a stand in the pushing of western values on other cultures. The problem lies within the educators... they're all old and still stuck on excavating and number crunching. However, the more recent graduates in the scene are more in touch with sui-generis (if you don't live it, you CAN'T understand it, so why change it)

With that said, I agree wholeheartedly, let them be.

Well, they're pretty brown. Probably the best thing is to get some pants on 'em ,get 'em to town and get 'em started going to church to repent for their sinful ways and get 'em changing sheets in hotels for tourists from Idaho. Then with ALL that money they'll make---they can be JUST LIKE US!!

Yes--Leave 'em alone!! Make the areas in which they live --off limits in perpetuity.
