Im growing some strains outdoors in southern ontario. i used to grow in alberta and never saw anything like this until i moved to ontario. some of my plants have this black fungus on it that mostly affects the buds. do you know what it is and how it can be prevented? thanks

probably not a fungus but a deficiency of nutrients or hot ground that has high mineral content. Pictures would help.

you cant soap a plant this late in the season...she is trying to salvage it not ruin it.....never soap a plant that already has flowers or fruit

We were studying this in class yesterday actually. It's affecting a lot of plants in Ontario right now. It's likely a type of mould or bacteria that creates necrotic spots on leaves of plants. Some disease that's been going around quite a bit this summer.

I'll let you know if I learn anything else about it. Kinda vague at the moment.

It could also be aphid droppings as Orison mentioned.
