French director Gaspar Noé, creator of ''Irréversible'' brings us his second effort - Enter the Void. It speaks to DMT, death, rebirth, and a whole bunch of messed up crap!

Little long if you watch the long version but still worth it. Look it up!

Yeah my only gripe with it, is that it should have been edited a bit more... It dragged a bit... However my friends and I watched it on a few tabs the other night and despite the film being a bit long, we all really enjoyed it... Very intense.

I adore that film. I love the cinematography. It's fantastic to see a modern movie that's not using all that nasty discoloration shit like every other movie being released now. I don't know how I'd react if I watched it tripping. The recurring memory of his parents being killed made me a little uncomfortable the first time I watched it.

To DMT users- how does Enter The Void's DMT visuals compare to the real thing? Representing psychedelic trips* on film is extreeeemely hard. Taking Woodstocks' acid scene is my favorite.

That's a really good question man! If its as beautiful as how they attempt to describe it, then I really want to try DMT.

To me the DMT visuals were much much slower than the real deal, Also Dmt is much more structured and sharp. The experience is more beautiful but its also much more unrelenting than depicted in that film.

I don't know if its because I was dozing in and out while I watched it, but I think this movie is damn near a porno.

just finished watching it. i thought it was phenomenal. for me at least.

its like you're being injected into someone, flown through their brain, connected with foreign feelings, completely hollowed out, then shit out, smeared around a bit, cremated, and then scattered in the grand canyon.
    yup.

i saw 'irreversible'...had no clue what it involved. the artsy fartsy press was raving about it, and i happened to be stuck in a city near an artsy fartsy theatre.

the guy will never draw me in after that film...reality not on screen is violent enough for me.

    Scariest movie ever.

I've been obsessing about mortality since I saw it three days ago.

Great film; there's not much else to say, except that it nailed the topic perfectly.

And that that was one hot mom.

After an hour and a half, nothing had happened apart from some extremely overlong sequences of flashing CGI and some long crane and single take tracking shots. Switched it off (I sat through Avatar, for fuck's sake). I didn't see anything to connect with in terms of script, character, photography, editing. The soundtrack was probably the best thing about it, unfortunately coupled with an attempt at visual style totally devoid of any content. Probably great if you're tripping your nuts off, druggies are so damn boring.

My thoughts exactly. That was the most hollow piece of shit I've ever sat through. Half of the scenes repeated themselves. How many times do we want or need to sit and watch a breastfeeding baby and a girl on a bed with a teddy? The rest of it was 10 minute bursts of swirly colours, like you were trapped in a sensory room for autistic kids. Even the sex scenes were shit.

If you want to spend 2.5 hours watching nothing happening but a very poor attempt at being "trippy" or unusual, watch this. I've had more fun watching my lava lamp or rain collecting in my guttering.

I did find humour in the fact that it was like a giant enactment of Hipforums. It even had a guy sniffing his sister's knickers and implying he's going to fuck her...but of course it never happens.

It did drag on a bit, but I liked it. I thought the cinematography during the flashback scenes were really inspiring and conveyed a sense of displacement form reality and in the context of the film the body of the main character who died. You know when people say that when you die your whole life flashes in front of your eyes, it made me think of that.

I did a few photos of myself this summer based on that idea-

I also really liked Gasper Neo's previous film Irreversible. This one caused quite a stir when it came out due to the brutal rape scene it depicts. I have watched the film twice, but I skipped that scene the second time. It's probably about the most sickeningly violent film scene I have ever seen.

I liked the film overall though, and it sort of flirts with some of the ideas in Enter The Void, namely death and the passing of the soul.

Looking forward to his next one, which I believe is coming out next year.
