More than 1,000 protesters decended upon Wall Street yesterday to protest the effects of big corporations upon the American economy. Police blocked off much of Lower Manhattan's Financial District to prevent a larger gathering. The police tried to setup a protest area in front of the NY Stock Exchange (no doubt surrounded by fences so the protesters could be corralled), but protesters refused to comply and were gathered in other areas in lower Manhattan.

Other protests are going on across the United States. This is not supposed to be just a one day event. This is more along the lines of a sit-in. They are even conducting "Teach-Ins" too! People are bringing tents and sleeping bags. It's an ongoing protest, similar to Day of Rage protests from Spain to Egypt to Israel, which have been proven to be very effective. Protesters are calling for the end of the "Oligarchy", and recinding the Citizens United case which declared that corporations are people!

Demonstrators are prepared to camp out as has been done in recent protests from Spain to Egypt to Israel.

1. Keep in mind that permits are legally required for assemblies of more than 20 or more people within the confines of NYC public parks, which close at 10pm.
   YOU DO NOT NEED A PERMIT TO OCCUPY OR PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS.

2. Once you have found a available space on a PUBLIC SIDEWALK form or join a block assembly. An assembly is a group of two or more people on a NYC PUBLIC SIDEWALK.
3. Establish rules of order and rotating roles for each block's assembly. Roles like facilitator, secretary, and time keeper should rotate regularly. See suggested rules of order for assemblies.
4. First order of business, decide on a back up block location should the assembly be illegally disbanded by the NYPD police or other government agents.
5. Once assemblies are formed we suggest that they establish specific demands for the block occupation by consensus, for instance, 'One citizen. One dollar. One vote'.

I believe there would've been a much larger turnout, had the police not blockaded the entire area, allowing only residents and those who work in the area, to access Wall street.

Come Monday this may turn into a bigger deal since everyone returns to work and any disruption could cause problems for everyone.
