is there anyway i could force flower outdoor plants? like take them into the garage at certain times or something? thanks for your help!!!
yea......just make sure you put them someplace that is completely dark. Figure out when the sun comes up and goes down where you live. set a time so they are in the light for at most 12hrs and in the dark for atleast 12hrs.....hope this helps.
thanks so much. so tomorrow night I will put them in the garage at 10pm and take them out at 10am, that will work, right?
yep sounds good.....although.....isn't it dark at 10pm??? if so maybe do like 8-9pm and take em out at 10am......the cycle doesn't have to be exactly 12/12 just as close to it as possible. say like 10-11hrs in the sun/14-13hrs in the dark. Just as long as they are getting atleast 12-14hrs of darkness (no more, no less) you'll be fine.
Make sure the garage is blacked out - No light brighter than a full moon. No interruptions either you have to be religious in maintaining your 12/12 cycle.
Hello Friend, I'm pretty much in the same position- I'm gonna induce flowering soon on an outside plant. I'm pretty sure the same light hours apply to outside than with inside plants- 12 hours light, 12 hours dark. I don't think moving it into the shade will induce it, because it will still be getting some sunlight... I've read that you can put a dark garbage bag over the plant after 12 hours of light. What I'm gonna do, though, is put it in a closet around 8 PM and bring it back outside at 8 AM. I'm just worrying about these damn bugs coming from outside into my house...
garbage will work BUT you can also give them MOLD doing that(been there done that) let them run there own corse they will be fine and frost WILL NOT KILL THEM!! you have to freeze the roots to kill them off last year (indiana) pulled three plants nov21
as others said, all dark. blackout dark. my sunrise sunset is about 7am-7pm. check yours and average it. so if its 5-10, make it 7-7. same deal otherwise just post ur location relative to sunup and down and people hopefully will help
