    Went fishing two weekends ago.

Thought my leg got molested by some mosquitos. I scratched.
A few days later I started getting an itch on my butt. I scratched some more. Now, I have a rash on my leg, arms, back, butt, neck and stomach. I am literally about to peel my skin off. I went to the doc yesterday, have gave me pills and a cortisone cream. Lets just hope that shit works, cause I'm about to LOSE IT!

    Fuck you nature!

it should help. i had about 90% of my body covered in poison ivy. had to take prednisone for a month. i was basically in bed all summer swollen, itchy, and just gross. also take baths with some oatmeal in it. avoide body wash with fragrances too. there is a soap thats just a yellow rectangle that my grandfather had given me to use. helped dry it out and relieved some itch. ice packs were a savior. ive had a break out almost every summer for 10 years. besides the past 2...yay me lol but get better. and make sure you wash under your nails really really well. the smallest bit of poison ivy oils can stay under your nails for days after breaking out.

prednisone the steroid ? Man that's nasty stuff . I guess that was a last resort , if it was that bad . Wow 90 % is awful ! Must have been agony ?

I used to be able to roll in that stuff and never got it once . Last summer i got it for the fist time , and it was freakin bad and awful ! I can't imagine having it EVERY SUMMER !

It's funny how I was never alergic to it for 40 freakin years , and now bam ! I was cutting down a dead tree when I got it , so i wonder if it was poison oak instead of ivy . I don't know but it sucked goat balls , and was bad . So i couldn't even imagine your situation !

it was really bad. my ankles were so swollen, they were the same size as my leg. like i have no calf or ankle...looked like just a thigh from hip to foot. my feet were covered. only place i didnt get it was my vagina and mouth...oh and only the top part of my butt cheeks had gotten it. yea i was in pain a lot. my face was so swollen. i had so many scars. it was really embarrassing. especially being 13 yrs old. i was never allergic, then boom just mustve changed over night. but i believe my tolerance is building up. each case was less intense than the previous.

i had poison rash on the inside and the back of my thighs. just two big circles that were itchy and oozy. slapped Bengay patches on em. 12 hours no itch, not burn, no pain...and it healed it up faster. my mom told me when i walked i looked like i fucked the enitre football team. i def had that "ive been riding a horse for days" walk going on haha

    Sorry to hear that :(

It’s so common here in New England you can’t go throughout life without at least one or two outbreaks and at a young age you become very familiar with the trifoliate.

We call those cankles around here.

That being said, everything I read says its not supposed to spread...... hell i was wearing long pants and a tshirt that day, how the hell did it gett all over my back, ass, legs........

I still have my doubts wether its poison Ivy or not, although my friend I was with got poison Ivy and the doctor I went to see said it was an allergic reaction, probably poison ivy. Just keeps growing and growing and growing.

Actually it spreads very easily from surface to surface so if you touch any other areas of your body with your hands coated in urushiol it will spread

It's good to sponge off your shoes you were wearing at the time you think you got it. I often tromp around in the woods through poison-ivy, before I take off my shoes and socks I roll up my pant legs so any oils wont infect my skin.

Scrutinize anything that could still still be contaminated like bed sheets and any furniture you may have sat on, and running the rash under scalding hot water is a recognized remedy that dries the skin. I don't know if it's recommended to take Benadryl along with your prescribed drugs but it helps.

    I hope you feel better.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy training schedule to help my with my question Mr. Phelps. I am currently washing my couch cushions, all cothing and sheets. Me and my friend who I went fishing with came back here after for some beers that night and I dont think I showered to its probably everywhere.

For one./ poison ivy is an OIL.. To get it safely off your skin you uses DAWN dishwashing liquid... Any other soaps that hydrate the skin and moisturize it. will just trap the shit on to you and not carry it away..

DON'T SCRATCH MOSQUITO BITES!!!! just suffer through it for a few minutes, and they'll go away. scratch them, and they're there for days. if you can't bear it, just rub lightly around the bite.

i'm poison ivy resistant. always thought i was immune, but then one summer for work i had to spend 4 hours a day weedwacking a hill of basically nothing but poison ivy for a week straight. that one managed to infiltrate even my strong defenses, so i do understand the discomfort now.

to suffocate a bug bite .. Put clean nail polish on it. Or what I use: whatever color the lid comes off first without struggling. red-black mostly. my clear bottle always gets stuck. :(
