Faith in the Bible, or faith in Christ--or faith in both?

What do you mean... Is the bible an object fo faith to be worshiped?

Well you are in the right place, although we don't always agree, this is a good place to expand your knowledge of what you believe. [IMG]

Yet you insist that they exist.
If you are with god, you require no defense. If you hold defense in reserve, you are already attacked. In the defenselessness of a child there is invulnerability.
Again, you defend your mother or yourself because of an imagined attack. Truly waterbrother if you had not already been headhunting me you may not have regarded our conversation in the same light.
Of the first part, we are never upset for a fact, only the interpretation of fact. You can perceive a threat that does not indeed exist, but you will behave as though it does according to your own measure of the situation.
A child can be terrified of monsters that do not exist and people can be terrified of things that are not true. People can misinterpret the stimulus before them, or interpret it in a way that suits their needs at the time.

Regardless it is terribly important waterbrother that you take responsibility for your own emotional states and not blame them on "insults". To exercise your will. You cannot exercise your will if your are blown to and fro emotionally by your environment. Nothing going into a man can defile him, but only what comes out. There is no outside stimulus that can defile you, insult you, belittle you, etc. without your wholehearted blessing.

Is it really so important to defend yourself by blaming your mistakes on me?

You are not addressing the statements I am making. Is it that you are ignoring them?

There is no blame associated with the statement you quoting but there is the opportunity to do those things associated with doing the will of the father, sinning no more, remaining vigilant, loving one another, judging not, refusing to cast the first stone because you cannot do so and remain blameless. These are all assertions of the self in order that the fathers will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Ignoring? No. I read them carefully but all they are, is a vain attempt to make yourself righteous at the expense of others and there is no need to respond to such foolishness.

Then why do keep trying to blame me, casting the stone at me, so to speak?

Actually I am teaching as I am taught. I am discussing the principles of christ teaching. What are you doing? What specifically do you find foolish?

It is not what goes into a man that defiles him, it is not what I say of you that defiles you, but what you say of me. It is not what you say of me that defiles me, but what I say of you. It is the measure we give or the assessment we make, that determines the reward or flavor of our experience or attention. The gift you give to me, you give also to yourself and vice versa. There is no moment when we are not in a state of giving. If we are angry as individuals the whole world shares that anger by association and it is likely to increase. There are no idle thoughts.

Why do you continue to call for my guilt. I am using an example from life to illustrate the principles of christ teaching. It is our life together, not just yours, not just mine. I am not calling you guilty. I am telling you that you are unaware in large part of a thing called consistency of premise as regards christ teaching, because of this you are naturally inconsistent in your regard of the world, that is caring for things more or less.

A consistent regard of the world according to our first premise of loving god with all our strength would see only love or the call for it, Not love for family on the one hand and offense or infidelity on the other. Not allies on one hand and enemies on the other.

Then perhaps you need new teacher.
The Christ did not teach you to blame your own mistakes on others.
I am discussing the principles of Christ's teaching.
Your blaming others for your own mistakes.

Gee, that sound a little judgmental but it seems to apply more to you than me.

I do not. In fact at this point, I'm just responding to you own attempts to blame others for what you've done.
Interestingly you go on to call me guilty.
    See.

You see you still accuse me and not on the basis of Christ's teaching. If you just look at the life of Jesus, our exemplar when he was on Earth, you would see what you are trying to "teach" is not what the Chris taught.

    Why?
Nor am I. Please drop your crusade to have me guilty. What mistake did I make that I blame on others?

Which exactly, and how do they apply to this situation. I have not seen you discussing principle in this discussion
I pray you will see something beside your verdict against me because you are not addressing what I am saying, but only wish to say that I am guilty and blaming my mistake on someone else. Again, what mistake did I make?

It applies to everyone. Is christ judgmental when he teaches it is not what goes into a man but what comes out, that defiles him?

What did I do and how am i trying to blame others for it?

If I say you are unaware, does that make you guilty? A lack of awareness calls for increased awareness, that is all. If you want guilt, you can find it.

I do not accuse you. I have looked at the life and example of jesus and I teach precisely the principles of christ teaching.

If you find guilt in the statement that to love god with all our might means that we see only love or the call for love, then it is of your own design, as what I have said is entirely consistent with christ teaching and this fact does not make guilty but increases awareness.

Multifaceted but not over an insult to waterbrothers mother, at least that is not what I am writing about.

How do we strengthen our faith in the bible? Nothing teaches like success. If we apply christs sayings to all things, withholding none, then the results will teach you that the sayings are true.

I appreciate your treatment of these issues in general and I think you might find some wheat buried in the chaff.

    Or not.

Love is without the condition of impatience. Kindness is the natural result of patience. Love does suffer the condition of jealousy, love is without the condition of grandiosity, is without the condition of vanity, is without the condition of indecency, it is without the condition of self interest, is without defenses, love is without grudge, love is without unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Yep, without conditions.

Nice try but all these things you say are not conditions in actually are conditions. Because Love is also conditional on these things not existing, if they do then it is not love.

    Nice try but;

God is love. Are there conditions on god? An absence of something is not something. If you entertain or see the conditions spoken of, then it is not love.

There is no condition on love, or love is unconditional. No romance or familial affection would be unconditional. They would be attachments or attractions which are absolutely conditional. This is why jesus is quoted "think not that I have come to bring peace but a sword", setting family members against one another, or "there are no marriages in heaven". Not because one believes and another does not, but because divided loyalties produce a split mind. We cannot serve two masters.
