Rock legend Sly Stone, once the king of funk, now lives in a van on the streets of L.A. Cheated out of money by a crooked manager, he was forced to sell his publishing rights to Michael Jackson for a mere million dollars in the 1980s. Now he is nearly broke and looking to revive his career with tons of new tracks he's been recording in his van, and an album of redone songs with other artists. Sly is now 68 years old. He was arrested in June after his van was stopped by a cop who found crack in his clothes. Now you know what he's been up to all these years... Good luck, Sly! We miss ya! better him than me....he didnt want to spend money on a lawyer when he should have all thats missing is the river to park beside
i wonder if he blames the manager for the crack too people need to THINK before they sign their name on shit
Such a shame. He opened the door to a wide range of funky music. I hope he can get himself back on his feet and that someone generous out there can get him to produce some of the new shit he's been working on. I know there MUST be some rich guy in LA who likes funk and would help Sly out.
I saw Sly and the Family Stone a couple of years ago at the Bele Chere festival in Asheville, NC. They played outside to a huge crowd and then later, I was in a small club watching some obscure local band when they suddenly announced "We've got a special guest tonight," and in walks Sly and the Family Stone. I stuck my hand out and every single member high fived me as they walked past. I really don't know much about the band, their music, or Sly Stone, but those high fives turned me into a lifelong fan
Howabout someone generous produce some of my songs? He knows what its like to be on top, few people do.....time for something new.

From what I've read about Sly throughout his career it sounds alot like Manic Depression. I hope he gets the help he needs and gets out of the van and into a house. Stay Brown, Rev J
