I didn't even realize the 7th season ever started until I saw this thread. I'm going to spend an extraordinary amount of time catching up on season 7 the next couple of days. it hasn't really been about weed since the third season. Its just a soap opera and like every good soap opera, you become invested in the characters and can't look away, even when it becomes contrite and ridiculous.
I think and hope season 8 will be the last. They did a good job on season 7. can they keep it up for one more?
I just finished Season 7. That HAS to be the series finale. It would be ridiculous to do another season after Nancy just clearly got shot in the head.
Season 7 was anything but a "good job"... it was mediocre... Season 8 hopefully is the last.. I think Shane's entry into the police will change Nancy's ways.. But I think it's been a long time coming that someone in the family dies.. which may happen in season 8.. it wont be nancy though.. it'll probably be one of the kids
The last two shots showed a sniper and his mark clearly aimed on her forehead....so unless its the writers' goal to write the lamest cliffhanger in the history of cliffhangers, then yeah she's dead as shit. I thought the ending worked well as a series finale. The last season was lackluster; I don't really see a point in continuing the show.
Mediocre compared to what? It was definitely an improvement on season 6, and IMO the best since the second season. The characters have actually grown a little bit rather than running around in circles like they did for so much of the series. Yea, there were still a lot of plot devices that were just a little bit too convenient, but other than that I don't see anything to complain about. The Russian dude is a good character, you get to see Nancy being a bad ass, the beginning of the season in the half way house in interesting, you have the return of Halia, one of the coolest characters in the series. I think you needed to have unreasonably high expectations if you were let down this season.
I actually thought this was the worst season as far as character development. The other seasons revealed the characters in a slower and more natural way. This season hit the viewer on the head with the characteristics we already knew, especially with Nancy. Like BAM Nancy is a selfish whore and a horrible mother, but she sure does mean well. The audience knows this so lets make it uber-obvious this season. At least thats what I got out of it.
I quite enjoyed season 7. Liked it far more than the Mexico-tunnel seasons, for example. And I strongly doubt that is it for the show. It would have been a decent finale, mainly because you get to decide for yourself what happens. Still, it's too popular to cancel, and they have a whole new premise for a new season now. Agreed. Not much variation in quality at all, some episodes are better than others, but really, I don't see what was so much better about, say, season 1 than season 7. Possibly one of my favorite things about later seasons is an older Shane.
I was thinking more about Silas and Shane. Andy and Doug too. For Doug its more of a return to his original character, but he was awesome back then so I approve of that change. I dunno, I'm not going to try to convince you to like the 7th season more. I just know I enjoyed watching it more than I enjoyed the 5th and 6th seasons, for sure.
I don't think I had unreasonably high expectations.. i just think it could've ended perfectly at the finale of season 6... season 7 started out as beating a dead horse.. it did get better as it went along... but it wasn't til like episode 5 or 6 that it finally took off... Of course season 7 was better than 3-5.. because those seasons BLEW
Dear everyone who says, "You guys are retarded! Nancy is dead! they wont continue!" You did not see nancy get shot, you heard a gunshot. love, lostthoughts
Yup! That would be like thinking at the end of season 6... "well nancy is in jail and the rest of them died in a plane crash" just because they got on a plane
