whats your thoughts on the shift that is happening on the planet!!! the Big awakening in 2012, I think there is something going on and people are waking up and seeking REAL truth. Alot of people are leaving Organised religions and seeking outside!! :afro:
i think people attach too much to the idea of things happening at a particular instant in time. it is quite possible our whole idea of time is somewhat distorted. there are indeed big changes in process, but the process did not start in 1960 or 1970. it may even have been already going on in the mid 1800s. nor does a process end with complete finality on a given date. and the process is not a steady one. there are lumps of accomplishment, and then there are periods of quiescence and loosing ground. there is a lot of doubletalk in organized religions, or in the leadership of them, how they are taught and practiced. people are not blind. they can see this. you know, this is a separate thing, what leaders of beliefs say, what is written in books, from what can be observed in the physical and sometimes even spiritual universes. partly this can be explained because they are talking about a different thing then what the metaphors they use might seem to be. as for the question of truth. there is one simple answer, and that is that it is always present, when no one is saying anything. double talk is still double talk, when it claims a theological basis. diversity being the nature of reality, and aggressiveness being the nature of evil, these things are self evident, equally within and without every belief. this doesn't make beliefs, the intentions of them, evil or wrong, but many persons of the best possible intentions are mislead by the very means they have been told to expect to trust. there is yet one other thing, and that is that every ordinary person is capable of disciplining themselves to be universally considerate, equally of all sentient life, even of all life and non-life. and it is this universal mutual consideration, that can alone create the kind of world, that is the most rewarding for everyone living in it.
No big awakening because the cultural sedative is far too powerful. What is needed is something that will disable the conveyor that delivers it- television. The problem is that it will also very likely disable the means by which people communicate apart from face to face. It's beyond religion it involves politics but isn't limited to that either. It in one way or another boils down to the individual will to see beyond what the person wants to see and comprehend. Religious group think is being used as a tool to manipulate the masses by entities whose behavior belies what they profess. It exposes the lie for anyone willing to see it for what it is. Until people in general are willing to be honest with themselves as to the true nature of what's going on in the world and with their own cultures governments nothing will change.
I never believed in the 2012 stuff but sometimes it seems strange when you realize that 2012 is going to be an important year. At the very minimum, it will be the time when the US political house is reordered, possibly more Republican, and when Europe finishes firing the last of any silver bullets it can find. At the least, 2012 will determine the future path of the economy and whether it's possible we might not just be dealing with a lost decade, but a lost generation. Not many people are awakened when they're worried about an invisible planet crashing into us next year. It's the economy. The markets themselves are more out of control than carbon emissions.
