My boyfriend today told me today, totally out of the blue, that he had decided to quit smoking (cigarettes, we're talking cigarettes here). He was planning on quitting this summer, but that didn't exactly work as planned. Now though he feels like he can accomplish it. I don't like that he smokes, but he never has around me so I didn't push the point because I have never had a reason to. It's not like I requested that he not do it around me, he said he just doesn't like me seeing him smoke because it's gross and he gets embarrassed by it. We have never really talked in depth about him quitting before, and it sorta surprised me that he decided to, because over the summer he had said that if he didn't quit by the time he started college, he doubted he'd be able to. Obviously, I'm super happy about it, even though it wasn't something that really bothered me in the first place. Then he tells me that "I know you try not to let me see that my smoking bothers you, but I know it does, so I will quit for you. Yeah, I guess for myself too, but that is less important of a motivation." If that will motivate him, then I most certainly won't stop him! It just means a lot to me that he is willing to do something like this. I just wanted to share with people how happy I am today
good for him if he goes through with it. hopefully he doesn't convince himself that you forced him to do it and start resenting you for it.
Saturday is 2 weeks smoke free for me. Hoping when I'm out for my friends birthday I'll be strong enough to pass...
