I've had DMT, but never any other psychedelic (unless you count DXM), but ever since I've had it, I've been extremely interested in them. I'm about to take LSD with some close friends, and I was wondering if I could get some comparisons between the two. I've done DMT numerous times now and I'd say that I'm fairly experienced in tripping. I'm considering taking an additional half blotter, would this be advisable?

Referring specially to the effects, a DMT trip is on a different level of intensity than the standard LSD trip. DMT is far more visually intricate and more overwhelming. But DMT comes on so quickly and forcefully that it's usually an afterthought to try to make sense of the trip.

LSD on the other hand produces an experience where one can attempt to make sense and dissect the experience while it's happening. I find myself tending to interpret/see everyday objects in a new light on an LSD trip as where DMT creates it's own mental psychedelic world pretty much that has little to no bearing on my everyday reality. This can make LSD trips very intense as well, usually the intensity from LSD stems more from personal unresolved conflicts or perhaps some views of reality or yourself that have never occurred to you before. I usually can still recognize objects on LSD but they tend to bend form, change shades of color and occasionally have like hallucinatory objects appear on them.

LSD is a superior thinking trip, DMT is a superior visual experience.

Well, GB isn't an old hippie, but his knowledge is unsurpassed and he's given you a nice gift with his post.

It's interesting that you started with DMT. I don't think many do.

    Happy trails

I don't think so either, but it was weird. In Colorado this summer there were a lot of kids around age 14 that were doing it, and I was like WOW, I didn't even know dmt existed when I was that young.

DMT showed up out of San Francisco in ~1969.
It was called "the love drug" because the prominent effect was the realization that everything is love.
It was 5-8 hrs of loving every neighbor and every tree and Bush and hopefully remembering these Cosmic phenoms in hopes of becoming a better and Better Human Being.

I tried DMT once down the Coast at a place called Salmon creek in the los Padres range. Suddenly this Guy showed up With this Vial of Clear Liquid , Everyone got a little drop on theyre tongue and It was a magic fest for temorarily enlightened Big Sur Hippies.

DMT may have come from The Ken Owsley Lab. Ken Owsley had already been synthesizing Quality LSD and giving it away to the the coastal people around the Bay area and down the Big Sur Coast for at least a year. It was the Same time as Timothy Leary's Famous Turn on,tune in and drop out , road to enlightenment Talks.

I think LSD can be more volitile than DMT Plus LSD comes in so many types and processes. Some not so good , its more of a crapshoot now with acid , I dont know where it comes from I dont take it.

You are describing MDA not DMT. DMT is a 5 minute extremely hallucinogenic trip when smoked/vaporized and to be active orally it needs to be taken in conjunction with an MAOI. It's the hallucinogenic alkaloid in the brew ayahuasca used by many tribes in the amazon for thousands of years.

DMT in liquid form would not only require more then a little drop on the tongue, it would require an MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) in order for it to be orally active. Are you sure you haven't confused DMT with something else? Typically DMT is smoked or injected, unless it is specially prepared as a beverage such as Ayahuasca, or what is called Pharmahuasca.

Anyway, I am also young, but my opinion is that DMT can actually surpass LSD in it's effects on thought. However, this is not to say it is the same thought process, as LSD is typically more introspective, analytical, while DMT is more ecstatic mystical, existential, obviously due to the difference in duration and intensity of impact.

Low doses of smoked DMT give visual effects very similar to psilocybin (magic mushrooms), indeed they are very comparable, both opened and closed eyes visuals. Slightly stronger doses give very impressive visuals that, while similar in nature to psilocybin, are normally superior in complexity and detail and the colors become more vibrant, more brilliant. High doses of DMT render your perception of reality entirely cancelled, often replacing your environment with... whatever that stuff is lol. The ecstatic mystical experience is typically had on the higher doses, the lower doses sometimes have absolutely no effect on thought processes, it feels as if you are almost sober besides the visions and a very high pitched ringing tone which only increases in volume and timbre, but not pitch.

LSD, as guerilla said, is much more drawn out, the visual effects are spectacular if a bit rigid at times, and the effect on thought process is tremendous, often devastating. There is a bit of nervousness during the comeup which can occur anywhere from 10 minutes to nearly an hour, with the most intense period coming at around the 2 hour mark. This of course all depends on how much is taken, your body weight, your state of mind, the evniroment &c all of which can dramatically alter the experience in a broad spectrum from pleasant, blissful euphoria to a psychotic nightmare mental breakdown.

I'd be scared to trip these days.Couldn't do it unless I was in a really chilled environment and had mutual babysitter like in rebirth or something. My immediate environment is rough.I live in Tottenham,London and we had riots here some weeks ago.Would love a joint though.

awesome post:sunny:dmt is much more intense but lsd is more real-world when it comes to fixes to errant ways of thinking. Both are extremely euphoric and visually beautiful trips that can change your life :daisy:

Question: was there ever really a DMT movement in history? Like LSD clearly had the 60s with the hippies. Coke the 70s-80s. Marijuana all time.. Hahaha
It seems to be the hardest drug to interpret, maybe salvia.. But I've only heard that the experience is the only thing that'll make sense.. I've had people try to explain salvia trips, and it's just like what the fuck? And i only know one person who's done DMT. Haven't asked him about what he saw tho...

There probably will never be as big of a movement with DMT as LSD in the 60's or Ecstasy with the rave culture but this past decade DMT got much more notoriety than it had in the past. Terrence Mckenna's popularity has grown who often praised DMT, Rick Strassman's book and subsequent video, Shpongle and other heavily influenced DMT music has become known, Joe Rogan even commented on DMT, and ayahuasca tourism.

Personally I hope DMT stays about the level of popularity it's currently at, I don't really care to see a bunch of youtube videos in the vein of the Salvia Divinorum Youtube videos. I think the nature of the DMT trip is so strong and personal that it's not really mass appeal oriented. The drug scene is much more diffused now as well. Mephedrone use in the U.K. had the fastest surge in popularity in the history of recreational drugs and I'd be willing to bet you haven't even tried it or know much about it.

Totally agree with wanting it to stay as is. It really does irk me when I encounter someone who claims that they have done DMT and that's it's "awesome, fucks you up so much etc etc etc..." then ask an assload of questions on how to make it, how much it sells for (this is my biggest pet peeve! don't ever ask how much you can make off dmt...please), THEN proceed to tell you how much they are gonna have in the future, they'll "hook you up" LOL, and how they are experimenting with different solvents (as if the best methods haven't been found!) Sorry, ranting now, but actually just encountered someone described above to a T!
