The position is in an isolated location in Northern Ontario, Canada. Duties will include; Organizing and cleaning the main areas of the house, including windows. (not private bedrooms) Meal planning and preperation, mainly from homegrown and raised ingredients. (vegetarians can apply, and won't be required to cook meat, but will have to accept that it does happen around them). The focus being on foods that have cancer fighting properties. We don't know what that all means right now and it's okay if you don't, we can all learn together. On rare occasions when both owners have to be away at the same time, the person will have to take over certain chores. Milking goats, feeding chickens and maintaining the garden and property on occasions when both owners have to be away (rare). Instruction will be given where necessary of course. Maintaining the wood fires during winter. Most of the time, one will be around, but due to medical needs this will not always be true. This is not a paid position. In exchange for the above duties, the person will have a 14'x15' private room next to the bathroom, telephone, internet (an old computer can be supplied if needed) and basic satellite tv. All foods and other consumables are shared as meal planning and shopping lists (if not the shopping itself which is dependant on the person) is handled by them (within certain conditons). The person will have to be very nature oriented and herb friendly and be capable and willing to be away from 'civilization' with no neighbors to visit. Only people in Canada will be considered as we have no way to help anyone immagrate here. These duties would typically only take up a few hours each day, leaving the rest of the time for the person to do as they wished, including getting a part-time job somewhere for spending money. Okay, part of this position has been filled... ignore anything to do with looking after things outside... there is someone doing that now. So, just the housekeeping, meal planning and cooking... We may have someone coming but are considering it open for now, if you are interested let me know.
And of course it did... or will anyway. Both spots will be open after the 20th. This is not a reflection on the two that have been here, they are awesome people (the best that ever showed up to stick around for a while). One was accepted into a course they hadn't expected to be, and the other is off to burning man. So... if someone else is interested, the cabin will be empty again shortly, and is much more comfortable then it was. Gardening is coming to an end, with the focus shifting to cutting and storing more wood.
