I just moved to Montreal, so I had thanksgiving dinner with my stepdad's family, yesterday who I barely know. It was a bit awkward. I brought three pumpkin pies (the recipe is from my family and is over a hundred years old!), they were a bit burnt, but everyone loved them. It was a nice thanksgiving.
I think most aboriginal Canadians/native Canadians don't celebrate thanksgiving because for them it's a time of remembrance (when their cultures were almost destroyed by European contact). The other people who live in the territories probably do, though.
Wow. I was wondering why I was composing my Thanksgiving menu over a month early. I was subconsciously connected to you Canadians today without realizing it. How cool is that?
