So first off, what would you consider a high dose for LSD?
I've heard 7+ before, I was thinking of doing a 5 in a couple of weeks.

But let's get some stories going, what was the craziest story you have about an LSD experience (w/ or w/o other drug combos) and how much did you take?

It seems like Mr. Writer's trip report has inspired everyone to reexamine what higher doses are really like. I'm very curious as well but I think it's all relative really. A high dose could just be any dose that you're not familiar with.

But a true heroic dose of acid I suspect is probably the good ol 10-strip. I've heard some people say that you should gradually increase dosage as you get more comfortable and I've heard others just say to take the strip and hold on for the ride. Either way I'm certainly not ready for what that experience holds. Well at least until I can get my hands on some quality acid.

    I consider LSD doses as follows;
    20-80ugs normal low dose
80-150ugs average "street" dose; (100ugs was the "standard" clinical dose according to a lot of the medical literature from the '50's-60's)

150-250ugs starting to get into the medium high dose range with full psychedelic experience and possible "ego-dissolution" with proper set & setting.

250-500ugs solid high dose with all the features of the above range, just a bit deeper.

    500+ugs definite high dose territory.

Then you have mega-doses, thumbprints, often in the area of about 1/10 a gram of crystal (based on what I've read) that's about 1000 average 100ugs hits.
Now how many actual blotter hits comprise any of these ranges, anybodies guess.
But according to DEA records kept up through about 2001, the average street dose was between 50-100ugs with 80ugs being the average dose. Today I would guess most doses are within the range of 60-150ugs for potent doses.
People often over-hype how potent a certain batch is and underestimate how strong LSD-25 actually is. It is noticeably active in humans at 20ugs.

Gauging a "high dose" based on how many little squares of paper you consume is guesswork at best, a topic that has been "debated" extensively in these forums.

Leary reportedly said he found no difference in subjective effects once he got past 300ugs and proposed that LSD had a ceiling to it's effects, others disagree.

The two highest dose I personally have ever consumed and of verified weight were ~550ugs and ~900ugs. May have taken higher doses, but without confirmation of strength.

First trip report on ~550ugs; (dosage of the hits was confirmed by a lab, Pharmtech, and tested at an average of ~185ugs per based on three hits submitted)

The 900ugs dose (9 drops of confirmed 100ug per drop liquid) wasn't near as dramatic, but still awesome. I chock that up too tolerance at the time. Today 900ugs would send me to the edge of the universe.
I personally agree with the idea of there being an upper limit to subjective effects until with what most of us would encounter or consume. But when talking multi-milligram doses, all bets are off. This article suggests that LSD-25 acts differently in the brain depending on dose and at high levels behaviors rather differently than at "standard" doses.

"LSD often has a biphasic response in which low doses have the opposite effects of higher doses. The head twitch response in rodents is believed to be 5-HT2 mediated. At low doses, it has been found that LSD elicits a head-twitch response while at higher doses it antagonizes the response. The rat startle reflex is amplified at low dosages of LSD while decreased at higher doses. This biphasic behavior can also be explained if LSD behaves as a partial agonist"

Ok, that's enough rambling for now.:p

(the only known overdose resulting in death was from an estimated, based on tissue samples, 325milligrams, or well over 3000 average hits. But that is not 100% confirmed)

^^NoxiousGas that's really interesting! I always get confused with ugs since you never really know how much you have on blotter. (Unless there is a way to tell?)

Anyways I really thinks it's interesting that with LSD the amount you intake does indeed change the effect to some degree. that's why I'm interested in attempting the experience at some point in my life

    Read my mind... haha
