hey guys, just wanted to post a quick hello to all you beautiful knotty souls out there :)
started my dreads about 3 weeks ago, here are some pics

    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/album.php?u=225174

i started by backcombing, then went on a 2 week backpacking adventure that helped em get nice n tangly, then when i got back a friend played with them, palm rolling and crocheting a little bit.

so, any tips for a newbie? they are quite small little guys right now, about how long does it take for them to get some weight and thickness to them? i have a whole buncha hair.... took forever to knot it all up haha.

i do kind of miss brushing it, but other than that im quite happy... feel more like myself then i have in ages. i needed a drastic change, and got it!

thanks for any tips/hints/comments you guys may have. i love how much love there is in this community.

    peace!

    anna

Give it 6 months then re-assess! I wouldn't go overboard with the crocheting, it's gonna take a long time for them to settle in.

The more you try to manipulate them at this early stage the more you'll be bound to maintenance, so let them form their own natural arrangement (for lack of a better word) and find a balance between how you want them to look, and how they want to look.
