Ok so My dreads are about 3 days old, I used the backcombing and I'm happy with them. There are a few that have some completely stray hairs that didnt stay in the dread, I'm wondering if putting a small loose hemp wrap near the root on these, loose enough to allow for some friction but tight enough to keep the loose hairs in the dread I want it to go in, would be a good idea? or will these hairs eventually go into the dread? They are completely separate btw. Also I work at a restaurant so I have to keep my hair up when I'm there, which I don't think it very good for new dreads specially if they are short >.<
Probably not to the 1st. maybe to the 2nd question. Hemp wrap that far up/early probably won't do much. You are gonna have some stray hairs. They might find their way into the right dread. My experience- they will find their way into the wrong dread- somewhere far away from the root- pull on your head all weird, and you will have to pull it apart, then move it back to the dread it belongs to, where it may eventually find its home with the nearby dread. or not.( Or maybe my hair is just really stubborn lol ) 3 days in - you are gonna get more of that, things get looser before they will tighten up and actually start to dread .Especially what I have seen of backcombed locks.
i also work in a restaurant, i have to tie my hair up and put a buff on, but its fine for your hair, keeps the smells off too
just remember to take them down after they have been up all day and separate them as they try to become one big blob of dreadlock
