Being a guy, I try to stay away from the menstrual cycle of my ladies. But, here is my random thought. I would think all mammals would menstruate, but I've never heard someone say "Oh, gross, my dog menstruated on the couch last night!" What movie was it, Turner & Hooch, I think, with Tom Hanks, maybe? He was a cop and he brought home this Police Dog that was badly behaved. So he locked it in the closet. In the morning his lady friend opened the door and called him over and he looked inside and said "Oh, shit!" And she says "Exactly!" I love that bit!! So, we can talk about the dog taking a shit on the floor in the closet, but you'll never see a movie scene where the dog walks out into the dining room during dinner when important people are over and she is leaking out the back.

So, question is other mammals menstruate, right? All my pets have been boys, but my parents and grandparents and friends have had bitches and she cats and I never saw anything.

I know that all mammals do. I think humans have worse ones because our mating season is 24/7 or something like that.

    I dunno, I'm not a biologist.

Most female mammals have estrous cycles where they reabsorb the membrane rather than discharge it, as in menstruation. I think only primates have menstrual cycles.

Dogs and stuff have estrous cycles. Being in 'heat'.

I have never lived with a female dog who was not spayed. When I was growing up my friend's dog wore a belt and pad made for dogs, or that is what they told me. I have had female cats who go into heat and I never see anything. I assumed it was because cats are grooming all the time.

I'm so glad Lode posted that, lol, I have always wondered the same thing. Well, not if they bled, I've got two female indoor cats that aren't spayed and have never found any surprises. lol

Yeah they do, my female dog isn't desexed so every now and then she gets her period.. kinda annoying having blotches of blood around the place, but whatever, only natural.

Blood isn't menstraution. Some mammals may experience vaginal bleeding during their estorous cycles, but they don't shed their uterine lining which is what menstruation is.

I was wrong too. Bat's also menstruate. All other mammals absorb the uterine lining.
