For my senior English class, we have been asked to find a speech, dissect and analyze it for a balanced argument, and write a 3-5 page essay on it. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a speech that has changed the way you see the world or has opened your mind to a new perspective of life.
Cheif Seattle was a very wise Native capable of drastically chaging perspectives. "How can one sell the air?" - Cheif Seattle
No, but they should no easy enough to find on the internet. Also, if you want to be clever and relevent, I'm sure youtube has some great speeches from "occupy" protesters.
How about the one from Sitting Bull that starts "What treaty has the White Man ever made with us that he has kept? Not one." I don't remember the rest but look it up. Stay Brown, Rev J
Thank you very much for all of the ideas. I have chosen to write my essay on Chief Seattle's speech about when the US tried to buy the land of the Native Americans which can be found below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLw56hHbpYI&feature=related"] for all who are interested in it. Feel free to keep posting here. I would love to read/listen to anything you may find interesting/inspirational.
